Cesc Fàbregas

I just wonde if Conte will use him as a nailed on, 100% certain starter like he has been or will rotate him. While I'm a person who wants him to stay and thinks he'll be an important player for us still, he does present somewhat of a selection/formation headache.

Like BlueLyon just said, Cesc is woeful in certain aspects like defending and pace. Have to wonder how long Conte will put up with that.

I think he means with Fabregas as the leader. They won those titles when Xavi was still pulling all the strings.

He clearly said "with him on the pitch" which obviously is completely false.

Spain wont ever win title with him on pitch and IMO we wont either. He is great at passing, decent on the ball and piss when not in possesion. Worst, for someone with such ball control, he is below average at hold up and dribbling. Guess Parolo would do better under Conte.

We won the title first season when he joined us though..... and like Skipper said...

What? They've won the World Cup and the Euros with Fabregas playing a decently big part in both tournaments.

He was not integral part. Xavi, Iniesta and Sergio pulled things back then.

As for chelsea, he was average in all bigger games bar arsenal.

You wont see him perform like Modric in big game, pulling things, running, playmaking etc.

I dont know how people can defend him. He talks alot of stuff in media about warrior spirit and has trophies yes, but he just isnt the man to help you win CL or euros.

I should write that he wont win tournament titles while playing key role. PL is one thing, because you have bunch of average teams that Cesc excelled against.

But against every better, pressing opponent, the dude hides in shadow.

I'm with Bluelyon on this, we aren't going anywhere with him in our midfield. We shackled ourselves.

I think fabregas played in the false nine position for Spain while xavi, Iniesta and Busquets were controlling the midfield for them. But fabregas controlling midfield is much tougher for him because of his mobility/strength on the ball issues.

Well, that's entirely different to what you were initially saying. We aren't defending that he can consistently dictate play in big games, he's struggled in that aspect, everyone knows. You said that Spain won't win anything big with him on the pitch, which is a completely different statement.

Yup my mistake, but its hard to say that Cesc was reason Spain won those titles. They won them, Cesc wasnt even a starter.

If we had Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets with Cesc coming from bench, we would probably win some titles, but not with Cesc starting every game which was my point.

They also had Xavi, Villa, Torres, Puyol, Capdevilla, and Alonso. Not even mentioning the fact that it was early Tiki-Taka days, before it had been dissected, countered and forgotten. Never forget Aragones. Spain would have won with or without Fabregas during those days, I'm sure of it.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please be true! Please be true! Hot potato on the bench :P Goodbye retinal damage.

Mmm but he coached Pirlo and the tatics will probly be something similar, but by Pirlo's own words  “I love the man, I have nothing but respect and admiration for him. I know if he takes a job, any job, it will have to be on his terms.

“The players he wants to sign, those he wants to get rid of, the style he wants to play.

“If you sign him as your coach and then as the owner you want to start making decisions, he is not the coach for you".  So it will be interesting ,he will know all about out Fabregas and hopefully use him and protect his weakness like a Pirlo@Juve

Manchester United eye transfer of Cesc Fabregas if Chelsea midfield overhaul makes him surplus to requirements

Quote

Jose Mourinho is ready to swoop for his old Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

New Manchester United boss Mourinho is waiting to find out whether the Spaniard survives Antonio Conte’s shake-up, with the incoming Stamford Bridge manager closing in on Leicester's N'Golo Kante.

Italian Conte is also refusing to give up on Roma’s Radja Nainggolan for his midfield and retains an interest in Portuguese Euro 2016-winning duo Joao Mario (Sporting Lisbon) and Andre Gomes (Valencia), who both also play that position.

Chelsea’s new boss wants more steel and energy in the middle of the park and that could see Fabregas - a favourite of the Special One - become surplus to requirements for the Blues.

The Spain international was way below his creative best last season and during the second half of Chelsea’s title-winning campaign two seasons ago.

But Fabregas, signed two years ago from Barcelona for £27million, still has a good relationship with Mourinho.

The United boss has prioritised a world-record £100m move for Paul Pogba and is set to step up his attempts to land the Juventus superstar this week.

But he is prepared to bide his time over Fabregas as Conte - who has already landed Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi for £33m - continues with his own transfer business.
