I still like him, just that having Mikel is not enough.

Sell Mikel and get a better DM. But even then if we want to play Fabregas against top teams is better to have a 3 midfield line. We need someone like Nainggolan.

Thing is, when he's able to do his thing he's one of the best players in the PL. Surely he's still valuable to us going forward.

Players like Matić, Cahill, Oscar, and Ivanovic are what's wrong with our team. Players who are either ultra limited or just plain mediocre. Cesc has been borderline great since Mou left. Put him in the best circumstances to succeed and he thrives.

The terms and conditions to make him "do his thing" are massively restrictive.

He is a CM who cant defend. He is a no.10 who cant keep possession. His main aspect is his quarte -back like ability to find the perfect pass. But lets look at the profile of our wingers and CAMs. willian, hazard, pedro, oscar all love the ball at their feet. There is no movement except from costa. If we had someone like schurrle still here, I would love to have seen them play together. Moreover, Cesc can control midfield and possession - This myth has been blown apart.

For me, he is NOT the player we should be building the team around. We dont have the required players and he does not have the required ability.

Cesc Fabregas seems to be losing his discipline as Chelsea’s season limps towards its disappointing close.

Cautioned for dissent at Swansea, he’s now been shown a yellow card in every one of his last six starts for his club – and also got booked on duty for Spain in last month’s international friendly against Italy.

Until this run started he’d been shown only two cards in his previous 40 games.

You take away the odd long ball pass and he really offers nothing.

I can't see him being too useful starting in a dynamic midfield.

As one of his biggest supporters here I'm starting to come around to this line of thinking. Sadly, he's made to look like an old man when going against modern, athletic midfielders.

Do think he can be effective if you put Kanté and Nainggolan in a midfield 3 with him.

Just can't see how or where we'd sell him to. And I doubt he'd put up with being a sub mostly.
