Moving him on is the right idea but who do we bring in to replace him? January is a terrible time to do business and we've got a bunch of numpties in charge so I don't hold out much hope.

It pisses me off with the hate that the more ignorant members on this forum spew at fab. Fab showed last season that he is a very technically skilful player, with out his creativity I doubt we could have won the league last season. Undoubtedly he is crap at defending. To hate Fab for his poor defence performance is to hate Matic, for not getting goals and assists. Chelsea has lacked a proper playmaker until Fab arrived. The problem with Fab is that we have been playing the wrong formation to get the best out of him. If we had a proper box to box mid I could see us having a very good 3 man midfield. It tires me when I see people hating Fab because of their own ignorance

Because we have used him poorly. 4-2-3-1 is the wrong formation. It would be cool to see Guus play Ruben in a midfield 3 with Cesc and Matic

It would be stupid to sell him now without getting the new coach first.

Cess is still a good player. He is just to old to teach new tricks like been a more defensive player. If for instance we get a coach like Conte or Conte himself and Cesc gets a formation with quality energetic ball playing midfielders screening Cesc and doing the defensive duties like they did for Pirlo, Cesc would a vital asset for years. His skill craft does not rely on speed or power but intelligence just like Pirlo and he can last for almost another 10 years playing top quality football. The emphasizes is on solid, BALL PLAYING CREATIVE AND ENERGETIC MIDFIELDERS not just average players with athletic physical gifts but extremely poor technical skills

That's a good point but Fabregas is hardly a creative maestro right now, and we need a bit more fight in the position we're in. Maybe I'm wrong but I just don't think he's a luxury we can afford right now.

Ruben's place? You mean the player that hasn't been even getting a spot in the bench.

Don't blame Cesc for things that are beyond his power, aren't related to him and that haven't looked likely in the first place.

We should keep him because a player with his potential, given the right condition can produce a lot for us still. He just shouldn't be our only option.

Bring another very creative player either for the wings or CAM and bench him or play Ramires in a 4-3-3 to give them support.

You know the even better option? Buy an amazing, physical, complete MD and keep him ahead of him and Matic, with Hazard, and two more attackers (could even keep Costa as the striker) and we already take several steps up.

Players such as Matic and Fabregas - who are completely out of form or far from their best - should be kept in the squad because they showed what they can do on their very best, and not for a match or two but for prolonged streaks of time. Cesc only stopped playing after the whole team started to fall apart and stopped playing. He isn't the guy to turn things around, it doesn't mean he's useless. Selling him would be silly imo.
