yeah nothing to add to the team anymore i fear. how mcuh would we get for him tho? surely no more than 20m

I want a more mobile technical passer to back Jorginho up.  We have been linked to Denis Suarez and that Toneli kid from Serie B hopefully we pull the trigger in January.

Theres no lying that hes been one of my fave players in the past and have loved watching him even when he played for those north Londoners. And even tho the lads done all that he could possibly do to keep fit theres no way to put life back into old legs.

Hes still got a wicked pass and I wish he could be able to use it more but I sadly think its time we parted ways. Itrs awful watching a player you like getting slow.

Like Mz Vesper says Tonali looks the dogs dangleys and it looks like Barella is too so I think either under Sarri would be good here.

He's like, "I am not the one to complain" but then he is complaining in that exact interview. He can not honestly entertain the notion that he deserves to be a regular starter here. Hes simply a spent force, plays like a 40 year old which is no wonder cos he has like 700 top-level games in his legs. Reminds me of the dying days of Schweinsteiger. Really should just end his career or go to tiny league like MLS or CSL

Still a hugely useful sub and rotation option for secondary competitions but it's completely understandable that he'd want to leave. When he does play he's still super dangerous when given the space on the ball, but he's somehow even slower than he was in the past couple of years. It would be suicidal to start him against even midtable PL sides these days with our current defense.

Would be sad to see him go but he deserves to play somewhere. Hope him leaving doesn't affect the Hazard negotiations somehow. He appears to be his best mate in the team.

makes you wonder what happened to the art of passing. given he is probably our best long range passer in the team We used to have Lamps, Deco and Ballack and now if we lose Fabregas we basically have no passing range whatsoever. Probably has to do with the centre-backs doing more long range passing nowadays. anyways, i understand cescs desire to play, albeit i think he is a bit overestimating himself.

I think he can tear shit up still in Serie A. It's more his speed and style.

'We cannot do what we want' - Milan's Gattuso casts doubt over Fabregas transfer

https://www.goal.com/en-ae/news/we-cannot-do-what-we-want-milans-gattuso-casts-doubt-over/bn21nkmjq7mm1pjhveaxgqkwa

ttThe midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season, but may not end up in Serie A due to Milan's Financial Fair Play restrictions

AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso has revealed that it may not be possible for the Serie A side to sign Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

The 31-year-old has played just five Premier League games this season, with most of his appearances for the Blues coming in cup competitions. Fabregas's contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer and as a result, he could leave the club after five seasons.

Milan boss Gattuso has repeatedly stated his interest in the World Cup winner, but believes that Financial Fair Play restrictions could stop the club bringing the midfielder to Italy.

Snip

Monaco awaits!

Then again we probably keep him and lose him on a free in summer, along with Luiz.

He might help keep Monaco from relegation. He will tear shit up in Ligue 1 (Serie A too, it is no wonder Milan want him).

I know his legs are shot, but he is such an great passer, that in those slower paced, more tactical leagues (especially Serie A) he will be a real weapon still. Milan desperately need a passing MF, especially with Giacomo Bonaventura out for the whole year (maybe more, he totally destroyed his knee) Injuries have really tore into Milan, Caldara ruptured his Achilles and is done till spring at the earliest. Strinic, Biglia and Andrea Bertolacci all are out too.

He helped change our style and offered a completely different alternative to soften the blow of losing the midfield goals of Lampard.

He was hugely influential in Jose's title winning season, and despite a significant reduction in minutes also had a very good season in Conte's title winning season which flew under the radar somewhat.

I was also extremely impressed with his attitude since at Chelsea. At Arsenal and Barcelona he came across as petulant, but he's a competitive winner. He could have had far easier moves than coming to Chelsea given his Arsenal history. He also had the option to take the easy route out when Conte didn't fancy him but he battled his way into his plans, and the length and success of his Chelsea time seems to have come from making tough decisions and putting in a lot of hard work which wouldn't necessarily be associated with a player of his natural talents.

A club prepared to build around his ability on the ball and offer legs around him will still get some very good mileage out of him even entering the twilight of his career.

I have a huge amount of respect for him and if he leaves this month or this summer, I wish him the best of luck with the rest of his career.

100% agree. I find him in a similar place to Pirlo when he left Milan, not to disrespect Pirlo but he left Milan a "spent force" or so if he played for us he'd be considered that. The right team around Cesc and hed still be a really good midfield player. He has the technique and intelligenc, just in our team which is quite open and vunerable defensively he and Jorginho are extremely exposed. I think his passing range is still better than Jorginhos too. Not sure if he will ever be a 6 but as an 8 in a team with plenty of legs to mask his physical issues, a bit of freedom and runners hed be good still.
