What do you guys think, has Fabregas earned his starting spot? I think so.

Goals have dried up a bit with the 3-4-3. Should start with 3-5-2 with Fabregas in front of Kante and Matic.

One thing I've liked about the 3-4-3 is the width that we have in attack. That's one of the reasons why Moses has been such a success during the first half of the season. Pedro, Hazard and Costa move all over the final third and that has offered Moses with acres of space on the right. Likewise, Alonso has enjoyed that space as well although his achievements in the attack have been less convincing thus far. Nevertheless, if we move to a 2-striker system, Moses and Alonso will have far less space to operate on the wings and as a result, our wing play could become very limited. As far as I understand, the lack of width has also been the main reason why 3-5-2 has not become such a big hit outside of Torino, and why no team in recent memory has not won the Champions League with that formation.

I'd suggest that we play 3-5-2 against the big teams when we need more steel in the middle. However, we should keep playing 3-4-3 against small and mid-table teams with Fabregas alongside Kanté to maximize the creativity in midfield whilst also having a real threat from the wings.

I don't understand why he's always so reluctant to drop deeper and demand the ball from our centre backs when they are clearly looking for an outlet pass. I watched the 1st half vs Stoke again and the gap between our defenders and midfield was huge when we tried to pass out from the back. If Fabregas can just drop deeper to provide a passing option to them, that will be appreciated.

Too bad (for his personal stats) he went to Barça for three years (too good for us because there's no way he would leave Arsenal to come here). It means he will never come even close to Giggs.

I hope he stays with us for a long time, although I'm not sure he would like to stay being used sparely because there's no way he can play all kinds of matches. But against mid-table teams and lower, he's the perfect guy and I hope he reaches at least 120 assists in his career in the Premier League.

You know I love the man :P

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte praises Cesc Fabregas for showing 'great commitment' despite limiting him to substitute role at Stamford Bridge

  • Antonio Conte says Cesc Fabregas has the 'right spirit' in training and in games
  • Fabregas was reduced to a bit-part role when the Italian took charge at Chelsea
  • The Spaniard has impressed when given his chance and is growing into the side

Cesc Fabregas: This is why I am sad at Chelsea

CESC FABREGAS has said he is 'sad' when he is left on the bench for Chelsea.

I/m sad for ya bud. But you need the right set up for you to do yer magic and Conte doesn't like using it often.

I will never understand Cesc being constantly benched. (Until) 2 years ago he was the best midfielder in PL and one of the best in the world. Suddenly he's not getting a chance anymore. The fact that he's not even coming from the bench every game and he's being a top assistant this year for Chelsea show just total luck of respect from Antonio Conte.

Even when we're winning games people aren't happy. A lot on here that are complaining about Fabregas not playing were also the ones praising our defensive record recently, and the small amount of goals we are conceding. There is a reason for it. The Matic and Kante midfield is a big part of it. As bad as Matic has been in regards to getting our offence going, he has been a terrific contributor on the defensive side of things. He really tightens up the middle of the park for us. Fabs not so much, though I will admit he has gotten better recently, though it might be due to him coming on fresh a lot of the times, and not having to work for 90 minutes.

I think his role is a fair one here at Chelsea, though I do think he should get more starts against the lower ranked teams. Helps us get a lead early, then you can bring on Matic or another CM to sure up the defence.

He cant handle the league in defensive sense. And our strenght comes from defensive stability. I do agree he could play games like hull, but overall despite how useful he is in creating chances, there is no way he can play in double pivot. Maybe in 3 man midfield, yes, but then Pedro must come off and we lose speed and his high pressing.

And Cesc didnt lose spot instantly. Last year he was dreadful (most were), in summer Conte decided he doesnt suit the system and he benched himi. I have full trust in Conte when he picks the players based on his system and not by name or who and how they played before...so far, Conte used Cesc brilliantly. We have defensive stability, but he brings him in games where we need something extra and so far its paying off.

What I dont get, we are first in league by nice difference, Matic for all his flaws is absolutely brilliant in defense and yet people talk shit of his contribution and want Cesc to start games who is proven that he is not mobile enough.

Thank God for a manager. You do have to admit Cesc has been on amazing form though. Can't keep him off soo much.
