Fabregas is proven in Premier League, also bigger name than Rakitić (I'm Croat and I would love to have him here).

I don't think the club will work on the basis of who is the bigger name, but I do think Rakitic is more of a 'Mourinho player' and that he'd work better in the pivot least of all because he can get back and break forward with pace.

So Pique comes out and criticize Barcelona for not treating Fab well, Dave and Torres come out to praise Fab. Cazorla apparently 'heard he is being linked with Chelsea in newspaper despite living 2 rooms away from him personally' and now Mou have come out and said he is interested. I cannot see this move break down anyhow unless Arsenal changed their mind and jump in or PSG decide to go mental+bid 40m. MU too if he has a good WC so it is very important we tie this up by the end of this week if possible.

Not on transfers he doesn't. He's a bullshitter generally though, so you're right on.

He does on transfers too: "Edison Cavani is a done deal [to Manchester United] - if they can persuade him to sign. It'll cost £80m to get him out of PSG."

"Whether he is going to sign for Chelsea or for another club, that is not a a subject to be discussed today, tomorrow or before the World Cup".

Sigh, well it looks like we're going have to wait until after the World Cup before a decision is made.

Can Cesc really play in the pivot in the big games? Should we really be spending 30M on midfielders who probably won't make it in the first XI against City and other European powerhouses?

Ramires-Matic; Fabregas. If Fabregas is signed, i'm very sure we'll see this in the big games away from home.

Fabregas will have the same role Lamps had, but he's going to be much better at delivering those passes in behind the defense for the front 3.
