Popular Post! Hybrid Angel 2,130 Posted January 24, 2016 Popular Post! Share Posted January 24, 2016 What can I say, he was brilliant again. People can talk about all the space he was given after Arsenal went down to 10 men, but he was pulling the strings and controlling everything prior to Mertesacker's red card as well. I don't know what Hiddink feeds him, but whatever it is it has him playing with class again. However, I like this Cesc even more than the one at the beginning of last season. He has added intensity to his game which makes him much less susceptible to the opponent's pressing. It's refreshing to see. If he keeps playing this way he is going to be very important. El P. 1,354
I don't think he should play in pivot alongside Matić/Mikel anymore. He is better now, but he has more protection. He needs to have two midfielders with him who are both more defensively suited than him. Best option in 4-3-3 with one box-to-box, one holder and him. Second best option - 4-2-3-1 with Fabregas at #10, and whoever can play behind.
mccg 1,528
Well done Gus,it didnt long to work out that Fab is better in the final third of the pitch and mmm not so good at the other end! Simples.
Magic Lamps 11,692
Credit where it is due. Classy performance. Even though he did nothing eye-catching he controlled the midfield which is vital vs arsenal. How many teams rush it when in possession at the Emirates and never get out of their own box? Also his close control has improved a bit. Remember that scene when he was harassed by the much faster Joel Campbell but with his quick turns and intricate touches he put the Costa Rican on his ass with a nice ankle breaker. Also his run stopped by the the koscielny handball was clever even though he should have rather passed. I am usually his harshest critic but you can't deny the influence he has on the team esp in the absence of hazard.
robsblubot 3,595
Fabregas had a good game, but since they lost a player so early, it's difficult to know how much that helped our midfield and team - certainly at least a little. On the defense side, I see Fabregas as weak as ever and players just run past him, because he's slow. However, He is very good with the ball at his feet - truly a great passer: he's got range, creativity, and you can actually see his entire range of passing in a 90 min match - not afrait to use it. It has little or nothing to do with the pivot (2 players). More with the team's balance and esp Fabregas himself; he has consistently played at a very high level next to Matic or even Ramires before, so blaming others for his deficiencies is silly. Fabregas is now better than he was a month ago, but his deficiencies are still there - for those who want to see them.

Fernando 6,585
What’s changed? Speaking after the game, Hiddink hinted towards the presence of Mikel and Matic. “He likes it when he can play and get the opportunity to play the creative part, and also with the boys who can recover balls as well,” Hiddink said of Fabregas. “He can play well if the balance is right.” Fabregas himself had no clear explanation, but the change sounded like it had touched upon mental aspects. “I’m feeling very sharp, I think my brain is much quicker than the last few months,” he said. “I struggled for a little bit, I don’t know why, but the sharpness is back. Under pressure I’m much more in control, I’m not shaky, I’m not under pressure, but my team-mates made it easier for me. In the last year, I think I’m in the best form now.” That much is clear. Over the last four games, he has averaged 77.25 passes, a figure more in line with that of last season. Most things indicate that he is close to returning to his best. And a Fabregas in form should be a wanted man indeed.

robsblubot 3,595
Managers will focus on their tweaks and those minimal changes even though the manager before tried them all at different times. of course is a combination of factors, but multiple players getting into some sort of shape obviously helps a lot. On the last match kudos to fabregas and Costa for creating that moment of magic that won us the game. Great long ball and great first touch. the match changed after that ESP with the red so, I still expect some ups and downs in the near future-fab included.
