Hmmm, maybe against some opposition, but it's not really a footballing philosophy associated with Mourinho. Mourinho wants us to press up the pitch in every game like Dortmund does. Never saw his Madrid or Chelsea team do that.

Madrid we're a high pressing team too. But different to dortmund because the only hard worker in their attack was dimaria. The rest (ronaldo, ozil, benzema) were all lazy bums in defending.

But mourinho could cope with it because they all had speed though.

I watched the match same as you guys but if you watch this;

it pretty much looks like a highlight reel and that's from one match.. his (full) debut match in fact! Mourhinio referred to Matic as his 'Spiderman' because he gets his legs and his body in and gets the ball and i can see where he's coming from, really really happy with this signing i don't feel like i can say that enough lately!

Good debut for Namajna. Started out a bit nervous in the opening 10-15 mins (which is to be expected on his debut), but really grew into the match. Defensively he was incredibly impressive especially with some of the interceptions in the first half and start of the second. Felt he kinda slowed down towards the end of the game, but that is normal in his first full game in English football.

Maybe because he's the guy in direct competition with Matic for a place in the XI?

Not really. Frank and Rami have been the most used duo in the pivot. So if Matic is replacing someone in the XI, it'll be one of those two.

Ramires is under rated - sure he has problems, but who doesn't? He's scored lots of important goals and his bursts from midfield really fuck up the opposition defence.

Nah, his Inter and Real teams are known for their high pressing qualities. High press is just a facet of any philosophy, you could be a high pressing counter attacking team or a high pressing possession based one. There are variations.

When Jose was at the club first time around i cant recall us pressing high up the pitch, we just went into a defensive shape. I agree at Inter and Real they definitely pressed high.

Dortmund don't play 'high pressing possession based' football, they play counter attack. They never dominate a match with possession (well against the big teams), The main difference is that once they get the ball, they have so many men running forward in support. Also some of their passing moves are out of this world.

Matic: "My first objective when I get the ball is to play forward"

'I think we played a good game, I played my first 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge so of course I'm very happy about that, but the most important thing was to win the game,' he tells the official Chelsea website.

'I tried to do my best and my team-mates helped me a lot during the match, but I felt very comfortable on the pitch so I was pleased.

'This already feels like home to me. I know most of the players here so maybe that's helped me, and I feel confident because the manager showed his faith in me by playing me for the full game against Stoke.'

Matic, whose main responsibilities are to help break up opposition attacks and ensure possession is won back as soon as it's been surrendered, produced a couple of passes in the final third during Sunday's match which suggest

'I always try to push the team forward,' he says. 'If I have to pass backwards of course I'll do that but, for me, the first objective when I get the ball is to play forward.

'With my former coach [Jorge Jesus], and now Mourinho, they have both asked me to try to play good football and to not be scared when I have possession, so I want to use their advice.

'Defensive midfielders are very important in terms of providing balance. You always need to be positioned in between the defence and attack.

Also, if a team like to play on the counter it's a role where you have to get on the ball early and help the team break.'

finding his feet back in the capital, with one

team-mate in particular playing a pivotal role in enabling him to settle.

'I like playing in derbies,' says the Serbian. 'For me, playing against a local rival is a big motivation to win and I'm really looking forward to the game.

'The Premier League is very fast and has some of the best players in the world so you have to be focused and concentrate for 90 minutes if you are to be successful.'

'It's a nice city. During my first spell here I was alone but this time I have my wife with me and my son, who is three,' he explains. 'My wife is pregnant at the moment so in three months' time we will have another baby, a girl.

'Branislav Ivanovic is a top man and his family are good people. When I first arrived he opened the doors of his house to me so I'm very grateful.

Some great football. Also shows us what we're missing to become a beast of a team. Fullbacks pushing up, Striker being able to hold up the ball in tight spaces and linkup play well and a DLP to spray those passes. Imo we're 3 key signings away from becoming an unstoppable team. (sorry for going offtopic)

Yeah definitely. Personally I think Mourinho is going for a hybrid Dortmund/Madrid style for us. Should be exciting times.

Götze leaving was huge. I wish he hadn't left. They're my Bundesliga team ,I was heartbroken to see him leave. Blaszczykowski done for season. Subotic, Gundogan, etc. Have missed extended time. It sucks.
