Joshybizzle 109
People probably aren't going to like this but i genuinely think his hat trick against Man United was a fluke, i mean just look at the goals, he got in the right positions no question about that and a lot of football can come down to luck and i think it was just his day.Fairly decent stop gap (other than missing a couple of sitters as is the Chelsea strikers job the last few seasons it would seem) but i wouldn't keep him around for another season even if we do move on Torres and Ba, i think our whole striking department needs to be re-worked be it through promoting youth players or buying in big names/bright talents Muzchap

Svita 10 186
Sam shouldn´t start today, i think. Because he likes big big games, so let´s him play at Monday. He will not have motivation today. Ba is right option for me, he didn´t play for long time, playing against his former club and has stronger in the air than Eto´o Muzchap
Popular Post! Excalibur KTBFFH 109 Posted February 2, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted February 2, 2014 Eto'o deserves more credit than he actually gets. People are quick to bash our strikers for not being good enough, but the fact still remains that Eto'o has 6 goals in 9 starts in the PL and 8 goals in 16 games (7 from the bench). That's impressive for a non-English speaking, 32 year old in his first season in Engish football. It's not his fault that he is usually painted with the same brush of mediocrity that Torres rightfully is. And when Eto'o has an average performance, it's just that, an average performance. None of those disappearing, anonymous, Houdini acts of Mr Torres, where he doesn't get involved and contributes next to fuck all. francozola, Tomo, didi007 and 7 others

Yeah that's true and you can see why he should be first choice ahead of Torres when looking into other things like Passing and Shoots per Game:Eto'o has 76% successful pass rate in the League Torres has 59.9% successful pass rate in the LeagueEto'o averages 2.9 shots per match in the LeagueTorres averages 1.8 shots per match in the LeagueI don't think either is good enough for a club of our caliber but we don't have much choice do we. BlueLion. 21,491
I can't find the post, but back when we signed him I said something like: "don't expect a lot from Eto'o. It'll be hard for him to adjust, and he's only coming for one season. If he scores 10 goals for us over the course of the season as a second-choice, he'll have done okay". He's well on track to match that. So I can't complain. Blue Armour and Muzchap

BlueLyon 9,359
Just imagine if we bought Etoo instead of Sheva and Aguero instead of Torres. We realy have no luck with strikers or board is run by idiots... The Chels

Gilvorak 3,734
Very good performance tonight. Maybe his best all 'round game. Held the ball up supremely well. Mufassir08, iseah100 and didi007
Popular Post! Jase 43,479 Posted February 3, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted February 3, 2014 Never mind his performances, one thing good about Eto'o is that he seems to use his experience to be a leader and lead the team when necessary. Did it at Everton back in September IIRC and again tonight with Willian, when the team walked out of the tunnel for the second half, as well as telling the others to keep their focus/concentration as he was subbed off. Such things are invaluable in tense situation(s) like today. (Pretty sure he has done the same in other games but just couldn't see it.) BlueLyon 9,359
I like him more and more. He is basicaly teaching our players to be better, how to improve and motivate themselves. Too bad he isnt younger, but I would love to keep him for another year, certainly ahead of Torres and Ba. New striker, Lukaku and Etoo would be great. BlueLion. 21,491
He is becoming a bit of a general for us, the way Ballack and Drogba were for us. That sort of experience is vital in coaching the kids of the team, like Eden and Oscar. That sort of experience is as good as a goal or an assist. mediator, The Chels and Mufassir08
The Skipper 20,609
So unlucky not to score today but still very good. Our number one striker IMO.
Hamon 103
Only God knows how much I love him, speaking in football terms. Why has time to flow? Why couldn't he stay 26-27 forever? Like this: Nobody would care about any other striker with such an Eto'o and this Chelsea, this beautiful machine Mourinho is building, would be absolutely the best team on the planet right now. Las7 951
I thought he did well in the first half and was unlucky not to get a goal when his shot slammed against the woodwork. Sadly he disappeared in the second half and Jose maybe should have inserted Oscar sooner for him.In the end I can't complain since we won and he did his share of work closing down the opposition and making space for Hazard.Would have been nicer if Willian had looked for Eto'o instead of Ramires in that chance in the first half since Eto'o was all alone on the right wing and I'm more confident in his finishing. The_Flash 1,144
I was so hopeful after the Utd game, however sadly it seems to have been a fluke. He is back to being woeful. We might as well have had no striker on yesterday he was terrible, So many chances he wasted. It was hard to watch when the rest of the team did brilliant. Ah well just as well our defenders can score
