DDA 9,938
As much as I'm not as hyped up about Willian signing for us there is a little part of me that can't help but think Witsel would have been the ideal present from Roman to buy of his Russian friends instead of Willian. yuvala 2,167
Dont really know too much about him honestly ..I can see he has skill, but what else does he have ?I trust Jose, anyway.
communicate 2,703
Man City look like favourites for the league this season. Why? They have top quality players in every position and in depth. They have 4 or so strikers who would be undisputed #1 strikers for the majority of the other clubs in the world. Man City's strength is scoring goals, so they focus on goalscorers. Jovetic, Aguero, Dzeko, Negredo. It has nothing about strength. It is more about fixing their weakness. City problem last year was scoring that is why they buy attacking player. For us, we only need one more attacking player and that is Schurlle. Assuming we really get Willian. We will have 7 players competing for three spot. Before everyone say Oscar can play pivot. We have 5 cm/DM competing for 2 spots in pivot already.

Lampard is not the same and Mikel is Mikel, so a DM/CM in the likes of Witsel and Fernandinho are a must. On top of that, Lukaku/Ba/Torres are not the ideal trio for a club like Chelsea...The only place we didnt need to make changes is the one we are spending almost 50mi on (Williand and Schurrle!EDIT: Dont get me wrong, I have that Joker smile on my face ever since the news broke. Willian is awesome as a player and as a character (plus the fact he is Brazilian). It is just that we should focus on bigger and more important priorities atm. â•«rue Blue 47
And about moses, do you all realiseloaning moses would be absolutely POINTLESS to make him still our playerIf willian have excellent first season, moses situation will be same like now. NO PLACE for him in the squadand if willian failling so we possibly need quality winger plus in case moses have good loan spell. You think moses would accept tue club, who already choose another player than him ??I think if moses get loan, For next season moses situation = marin situation. He willnot in our squad for next season
Barbara 15,149
There's something that bothers me in all transfer threads.People say 'we should have signed X instead. For this price we should have signed Y. I can't believe we gave up on Z because of A'.This isn't grocery store, all players aren't there available for us to buy when we please and saying Falcao, de Rossi, Witsel, Lewa, Ibra, or whoever else were there and we didn't sign is naïve... who said those players were really available to sell? Who said we didn't have bids rejected? Falcao for example couldn't come to EPL because of of the group of investors behind him... so it's not that simple.I don't think we should sign Willian, but it doesn't mean because we did we are not signing Rooney or another striker. ManUtd already rejected our bid twice, signing Willian or whoever else has nothing to do with our bids for Rooney - except maybe the board is feeling more and more like we don't stand a chance. It's not so simple to sign those players, and whether this is a bad deal or not we'll find out after it's officially done and then in a few months, but let's not think because of this we didn't sign others... or that we didn't sign others simply because the board is stupid and Mourinho is crazy. Thendo 1,088
I agree that it seems strange that we go after another CAM, but I trust Mou and the board on this one. For some it may seem like a hesitated bid only because he was a Tottenham target and some people here make it sound like Mourinho + the board are clueless with this signing, but they obviously know more than we do about the situation and have a serious plan with this signing. Pizy 18,907
Just imagine if we've been secretly planning on bringing in another 3 players all along including Willian. Does seem strange that we've neglected our biggest weaknesses.Wouldn't surprise me at all if we end this transfer window with Willian, a DM, and a striker with Moses sold or loaned, Mikel sold, and Ba sold. The Skipper 20,609
Doesnt make sense? to who? You,the championship manager brigade on here? Jose Mourinho has approved this,1 of the greatest managers about has determined we need this fella so it makes sense to him and thus it does make senseYeah, because Mourinho is God right? You do know you're allowed to have a mind of your own? YouNameIt 1,511
We shouldnt loan Moses.RW: Willian, MosesLW: Hazard, SchurrleCAM: Mata, Oscar, KdB (all of which CAN also play as RW)I think competition is good. And I dont see the point in loaning out any of the players above tbh. We will play alot of games, and this season, compared to the last two, we will have an insanely strong bench and players who can come on and change the game. What we should do, is to sell Mikel. And we could also in some game, try out Essien+Oscar or something in the pivot.
bluesman2610 1,417
I loved how this turned into a Jose signing when AVB was who put the guy on our radar when he was here. I love Jose like the next but he is not the GOD that we make him out to be with his hand on everything
Term-X 7,891
In regards to the homegrown quota, Blackman may need to be our 3rd choice keeper, easy life for Hilario, hope he donates to charity or something.
xPetrCechx 13,570
Willian has opted to join Chelsea rather than Tottenham, a source has told ESPN, with the Blues agreeing a £30 million deal with Anzhi Makhachkala to sign the forward subject to a work permit hearing.
