yeah, we seem to be willing to ship away one of our potential good young players because a guy wants a passport.

I didn't know we became a charity institution. I mean, if it doesn't come as a sacrifice for the club, okay, keep Mikel there so he can get his English passport, but now we're sacrificing a young talent because of a damn passport? They play the same position, Mikel wasn't that much used last season, with Cesc in the team, Ramires could be a direct substitute to Matic as well. The obvious player to leave in the midfield - for loan or offloaded - was Mikel but it seems we won't make it because of a passport...

Wouldn't a passport also mean he could be listed as HG player? IMO that would not be charity but benefit our club.

Maybe Mikel is not a real rotation option, cos he limits our play, but in certain situations he can be a tactically important option, like protecting a lead but also calm down the play and he is still good enough to play the lower sides.

Tho given his limitedness, it is important we keep MvG.

Nope, nationality is irrelevant under HG rules; all that matters is whether the player was registered with the English/Welsh FA for 3 years or 36 months before the age of 21. Mikel joined when he was 19.

His injury last year was so unfortunate, he would have got enough games/been able to develop and would perhaps have more of a role here. That injury was such a setback for the kid, real shame.

well ramires can play as winger beside willian,hazard,schurrle with oscar and fabregas ,u got matic and mikel as CB too ...guess cheslea dont have problem with loaning salah and u can c that he wasnt even in the squad list last 2 matches which means there is enough subs for am on bench without salah

there are going to be 60 matches in the season. u need atleast 2 players for a position. we play a 5 man mid and will have willian, oscar, hazard, schurrle, cesc, mikel, rambo, matic as our only options.

do u remember last season when we had CL obligations. salah started every PL match. that is what fixture congestion can do.

and its been 2 matches man... only 2 matches. azpi dint play for the first 6/7.. and he was then one of our players of the season.

In theory, if Torres leaves, Marco can stay. There are two problems though: 1) Milan might make Marco's loan a condition 2) Marco himself may want to leave so he'll continue his development.

I'm very pro Marco continuing his development, I just think that if we offloaded Torres, we could afford to keep both Mikel and Marco in the team, and instead of giving Mikel minutes, Mourinho would be giving Marco - some in the big competitions, and definitely full matches in the domestic cups, that until Mikel actually gets his passport and then leaves for good. But that's me... Mourinho seems to think Mikel is more useful than Marco.
