Popular Post! Barbara 15,149 Posted April 8, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted April 8, 2014 A star performance from a star player. Winger or CM or ST, they guy always does his best and pours his heart out. Astonishing performance.Meant to score goals. Terrific player, today. This sums up well who Schurrle is. There are some poachers, who kill matches simply because they're at the right place, at the right time, unmarked, a few yards from the goal. That's only partially who Schurrle is.He's a star player, yes and he's made to score. But he can score the most astonishing goals, not only the poachers-goals.His finishing is sublime (and I remember people were trying to convince us - the one who didn't know him better - that his finishing was awful because of a stupid stat saying he had the worse scoring/shots % in Europe - or some other shit like that).During ESPN 'MOTM-style' tv show that started just after the match, the pundit chose his woodwork and his goal to talk about his movement. He's smart. He isn't in those positions by coincidence. It's because of his vision and also because of instinct. He was made for that.I also voted on him as my MOTM not only because of the technical and tactical (he was everywhere when he didn't have the ball), but because of his character. He grew when the situation became more dire. With the team biggest star off and he stepping to fill the shoes, in a situation he's never been before (for better or for worse Oscar, Hazard and Willian had important night at Champions League and Europa League), with a lot of pressure and responsibility and he did as if he's been there as many times as Eto'o or Terry. Unbelievable. I'm so proud of him and so happy for him being a Blue - a player and a fan.In addition to his quality, he put his heart in the presentation. He fought, he gave his everything and that's what counts. He'll never reach Hazard's level of technique and talent, but he makes up for it with a few other things such as his movement, his finishing, his coldness, his heart and his dedication. And now his character. What an immense guy he is. So happy I wrote his name in my away kit. He deserves it and I'll buy his shirt again come next season. LAB 1,030
Yup, great will today. He was literally everywhere he could to capitalize on mistakes and be ready for counter all the time. Great spirit, true blue. Also what Barbara probably got tired of posting all around tonight is 100% right: that matches like this are absolutely crucial to have for our young talents to mature in this club. I really wanted Andre to come up and play a role and impress Jose because he's got the gifts. Maybe not a star like Eden, but then again he is not that type of attacker imo. Eden i think might see a bit of Salah when looking in a football mirror (in the future). Schurrle is something else. Can't find it really fair to compare these two. We need the dynamics he brings in certain matches. This diversity he adds. Barbara
Henrique 9,133
I won't change my mind about Schurrle because of this game, and I wont write a post about how great he is, but in this game he was really good, and did what he had to do: scored a vital goal in the first chance he had, and almost scored the second with a superb finish. His spirit in this game was really great, Peace., seanptmiller and Styles

Let's face it, you don't give players any benefit of the doubt and Schurrley will prove many doubters wrong at Chelsea and this is not purely based on last night's performance! The only place to be 11,313
Well done Henrique for not being your usual negitive self.Nice diplomatic phrasing there Anyway I love Andre. Still got that dodgy barnet going on but I really do think he's a top player and even when Eden went off I had faith that this guy could do something. He's a perfect example of people expecting far too much from players in their first season at the club when they come from abroad. It takes time to acclimatise not just to the league but to the country and to what Jose expects from you.He took his goal clinically (he is German after all) and was unlucky not to get a second, but with Eden out for a few weeks we need this guy to continue to step-up for us. Shakez 755
Some bad touches here and there but it really didn't matter. He was vital, and again proved his killer instinct. He will get a good run into the team now that Hazard is injured and im looking forward to it!
TorontoChelsea 4,064
Absolute hero, my MOTM for stepping up and not being intimidated about replacing Hazard in the team when we needed him the most.I absolutely love his movement and his cold, cold finishing. What a baller.I've also been very impressed with his pressing. He really agitates opposing defenders, blocks their clearances, and forces them to make bad passes. He also tracks back quite well. He's a very valuable player for this side even when you look past his scoring ability.
