Just going to copy and paste on what i wrote on the Modric forum concerning Flopdric an Khedira. Who seems to be almost everyone favorite choices.

First of all Khedira is not DM, that is like calling Ramires a DM. He is ok defensively but not going to rank anywhere near the best. Imo Khedira is undoubtedly Real Madrid weakest link and most Real supporters who watch him regularly don't think he is good enough for them and i certainly don't think he is good enough for us either.

Of course Khedira is a DM, through and through and has ever been. I've watched him for Stuttgart and for Germany, too. He is by far the most defensive midfield player in every side he plays for. Ramires is a completely different player. Maybe you do not rate him and perhaps Busquets is better, but he still is very important for RM and Germany and by far the best option either have in dthat department.

Care to explain?

As a CM:

He can't tackle.

He can't intercept.

He vision is about above average. Better than Mikel's but worse than Oscar's.

Doesn't dictate play, just knocks the ball around a lot when in possession.

As a CAM:

He doesn't record many assists, so he lacks the final killer ball.

He doesn't score many goals.

Chelsea already has two potential world class players and one world class player for the CAM position.

All he is has is his amazing technique on the ball, but from what I see he doesn't know what to do with it. He'd be better in a 4-3-3 and if Chelsea persist on playing a 4-2-3-1; Modric is the last player I want to see at Chelsea. And he is already 28. All in all he is half a CM and half a CAM, very good at both but simultaneously very awful at both. He is a hybrid that doesn't really fit into a conventional position.

Am I the only one who thinks Varane still has a lot to prove. Don't get me wrong, he clearly has the potential to be something special, but he still has a long way to get there. Just look at the CL matches against Gala and Dortmund where he was taught a few lessons by Didier and Lewandowiski.

Of course he has a lot to prove, he's still young and will get better without doubt. Plus, a lot of defenders would struggle, and have struggled against a very experienced Drogba and also one of the most in form strikers around in Lewandowski.

He will of learned from them games alone.

Indeed he does, but at the ripe age of 19 it worth enough to take a punt on. His performance v. Barcelona this season was outstanding, he also had a good game against Man United in the first leg. He does need to work on his awareness a bit more, but having his partner up with, potentially, Luiz & Terry would be brilliant.

Oh the dream..

True, although Madrid would probably laugh in our faces if we went with a bid for him.

Why are some people soo against Modric? This year he was playing very unregulary and that is problem for such player who needs to catch rhytm. He was Reals best midfielder this year-2013 (said by Mou himself).

He will be 28? So what. We cant just have team of talents. The main reason why we suck this year is because we lack experience and top players. Besides Modric is the type of player who will reach his peak in 1/2 years. Take a look at Pirlo or Xavi. Easily 5 years from Modric to come. He was never speedy or whatever, his calm passing and control will only improve.

Now, he is reaching best years, he had lot of experience in RM, can handle pressure. He is PL proven (and was best midfielder of Prem last year).

He wanted to join us, he will never be ahead Ozil at Real and might be looking for a move. His price would be around 25mio too, much cheaper than 40mio.

For second player, I dont realy know. Benz and Pipita were very unconsistent. Benz is extreme shit in NT and Gonzalo is more of a poacher and can cross sometimes too. Higuain could work well here anyway.

Khedira is good player, but seriously I would rather have L. Bender, Capoue or Vidal who are more hard working.

Xabi is class player, probably my favourite at Real as he is typical allround CM. But he is 31 and I dont see him comming ever here. Why would I dream of something that impossible?

Ramos is Real bound, Arbeloa is shit, Varane wont leave. Ozil is not required here and Dimaria is probably staying too. Pepe could bring some defensive skill to our team, he might be bit too old for our policy.

Pepe and Modric seems most possible.

As reported on Real Madrid TV, the following players will not leave Real this summer are:

-Marcelo

-Benzema

-Ronaldo

-Ozil

-Modric

-Alonso

-Varane

-Khedira

-Ramos

-Lopez

-Casillas

---

Di Maria, Higuain, Coentrao, Pepe, Albiol could leave then...

Carvajal, Bale and top striker ala Aguerro/Cavani/Falcao will probably join...
