November33rd 84
LOL @ thinking Ba would be on the bench here. What striker do we have on the roster that would start over Ba? Nobody.
Tomo 21,751
I doubt he has been told he will be number 2, its absolutely cringe worthy if he has.
Pizy 18,909
"He's big! He's black! Two letters on his back! Demba Ba! Demba Ba!"Is that a real chant that their fans sing or is that just made up on the Internet?
BlueLyon 9,359
I too think Ba should absolutely start here ahead of Torres, but dont expect that because Rafa will keep playing Torres for some reason...Keep in mind that Ba scored 16 goals last season in same amount of games, while this year he scored 13. And last season, after 16 goals till end of december 2011, he didnt score one more goal in remaining of season. What if that happens again? Sheva. 5,373
And last season, after 16 goals till end of december 2011, he didnt score one more goal in remaining of season. What if that happens again? He didn't score because Cisse came in and he had to play out of position.

robsblubot 3,595
Back to the so important first touch.I've watched a few matches of Ba and don't think much of his first touch; as in, he is either scoring or he is not in the game. Torres on the other hand is a bit more difficult to describe. I've seen INCREDIBLE first touches by him, like in the WCC against Corinthians, when he takes a long ball before it hits the ground, controlling it and finally taking a shot on goal. I've also seen Torres loses control of the football in a bizarre way.Can one be cautiously optimistic about Demba Ba? One who has been on the other side of the "the grass is always greener..." saying far too many times.
GeeMon 34
Seems like a great January buy. I'd still prefer to keep Sturridge, but it seems the board has made their mind up. At only 7.5 million, the risk of his knee is negligible. Knows how to score goals, and boy would that help us out. Very excited to see this one through. bluekiwi 0
Yes exactly. Anyone else like to see Lukaku and Ba playing together?
StrategiC 73
Great to have someone competing for the golden boot. He is 1 goal behind rvp.
kellzfresh 7,229
Brilliant from us. A Very good goalscorer for so cheap and we're going to get him in within the first few days of the Window. Just waiting until he replaces Torres as first choice then we have a chance at the title. Torres can play against the Weaker sides.Torres shouldnt be too sad, after all thats the only teams he scores against.

And last season, after 16 goals till end of december 2011, he didnt score one more goal in remaining of season. What if that happens again?Yeah, Rafa will probably stick with Torres as his main man unfortunately, but I am heartened by the willingness he's shown to rotate. As far as Ba's goal drought: one of the major factors in that was that he was often made to play a wide position by Pardew, and he has no business playing there. Even if he does go into a pronounced slump, we're paying a low fee for him and his wages shouldn't be too bad.My main concern is how his knees will hold up. If you're failing medicals on a regular basis, there's obviously something amiss.Overall though, Ba is a risk worth taking.

JLC 13
I don't know if I agree with buying a footballer who has knee problems, seeing how important knees are to football players. If our goal is to improve the striking position over Torres then I would sign somebody who can play more than Ba. A player with knee problems can not play as much. Unless i'm just over exaggerating about his knees then let me know and I'll say that I was wrong and sign him..
