Jase 43,479
Cisse is a lone striker. It showed when cisse was bought into Newcastle. Ba almost became invisible. If we were without a striker then he would be excellent. But we have Torres and Danny.Ba was shifted out wide by Alan Pardew in order to bring in Cisse into the team. That is why the goals dried up for the former.
BleedsBlue 1,549
He'll be the best value of money for 7m,most likely a Cahill buy but if Danny stays at Chelsea then we shouldn't be in the market for any center forwards.

themightyblue 443
Would prefer if we just believed in Danny as a CF

themightyblue 443
Come on give him a break, he's only 22 and was his first full season in a first team. Thats a lot of pressure on him and he was playing in a position that was unnatural to him, he needs to be given a chance to show what he can do in his natural decision before we think about getting rid of him

Jase 43,479
So if ba came in, we'd have 2 up front? When has that worked? No but we could well do with a decent backup to Torres. Having a 'Plan B' is crucial in the team.
Blue Traveler 256
Indeed. With Drogba gone and Studge not showing any sign of maturity i think it would be decent to have a backup and we need one anyway.
Bluechip 5
BA in Drogba out! Sounds like a good transition to me.. Could he be our next Drogba? Past injuries would be the only concern signing him.. worth the risk though.. Its not like we will be paying an arm and a leg for him. LDN Blue 7,903
Just because he has a release clause of less than Β£7m doesn't mean we should just throw the money and sign him. That's the money you spend on kids like Marin who appear to be deemed a squad player, with the potential of being a pleasant, explosive, surprise. Not to deny Ba's ability, just think we should strengthen in other areas first and use what we already have in Sturridge & Lukaku (supposedly Torres too.) Duppy Conqueror 1,536
7m to further hinder the careers of Lukaku and Sturridge by bringing in another knee injury nightmare don't seem a bargain to me.

An honest assessment of he's knee will probably see him fail.. This is where clubs that may be interested Need to way up if it's worth the risk
BlueLion. 21,491
I would not be adverse to having a player of Ba's proven Premier League quality. He is a far better option than Sturridge.

RamiCFC9 258
Sell Sturridge and get Ba+GVDW for that cash.Imo its brilliant deal.
Bosnian Blue 2,471
I also think it's very difficult to change the system so quickly and not have any kind of physical presence up-front. Lukaku will almost certainly be loaned out which leaves us with Danny and Fernando. I would definitely welcome someone like Demba Ba, Dzeko or anybody who is different to our strikers. Variety is important, remember the days we used to play Robert Huth as a CF.
