This may sound funny, but I can't help but feel that Torres has only helped Didier after his arrival..when he arrived, he inspired Drogba to up his game... and this season he was involved in persuading Mata to join us and even that is working in Didier's favour.

In Jan last season I was hoping we would sign a supporting forward player to aid Drogba and our team, but instead we went and got Torres for different reasons. Ironically enough, he has ended up performing in a very good supporting role! :P

No more strikers, please! Right now we need to re-build our midfield and make it good enough so that any of our strikers can just walk into a one-on-one with the keepers...

If Kalou & Anelka do, we will have to. Otherwise we'll be left with 2 strikers, Drogba & Torres. With the ACoN we'll have 1, perhaps 2 if you count Sturridge. That's not enough.

Exactly if we get rid of two back up strikers we will have to bring atleast one back in. So it will depend on if its a big name to stop Torres playing or a youngster.

I can see Torres going 100% in the summer. it will most likely be some shitty loan deal like Crespo a few years back , so more money lost ... sigh

Kalou is not a striker, and you missed Lukaku.

True. And Lukaku is not ready, unfortunately. Even with 3 strikers (2 during ACoN), we need one more.

It's only 1 month with fairly easy fixtures, we'll manage... if we sign a winger (let's face it, Anelka is essentially a winger and Kalou, I can't remember the last time he was played a striker... so we should be looking at wingers as first priority), then we can count on Sturridge to be an option for CF, because we'll have options to put someone else on the right wing. So imo we wouldn't need a striker, but a winger or two.

Drogba has been getting the same (and for a couple of years) worse service than Torres is now and he hasn't done too badly.

But Torres isn't Didier is he?

Didier was that once in a generation type player, the complete forward who could do it all. But we will soon be without him and we need a striker to lead the line when he's gone.

I agree with that but either we need a significant change in approach or a similar type player to Drogba.
