they are giving him the chance and backing him ....Thats why I would prefer them ... Roman is making us the most despised team in football ...

are you happy with that ,???, I'm NOT

No I understand mate, completely...

Don't know what else to say, but I loved RDM, Wisey and Dan the man Petrescu back in the day and can't believe how he has been treated.

But that was before Roman - if Drog ever managed us and RA did the same then I think I would take him out with a sniper rifle...

But RB is here - so making the best of it :)

Its not the hiring of Benitez that is the worst aspect ,,,It is the manner of the constant firing of decent men ...The sacking of Ray Wilkins ..

the slow torture of Ranieri... My one hope is Zola NEVER returns while the Russian is here...Carlo and Roberto were disgracefully treated,

THAT IS THE REAL STAIN on our club not the loss of some game in Italy

I keep hoping for Roman to mellow with age. His overreactions are reminiscent of those of 19-year old supporters on the web. He's like a figure cut out Greek tragedy, a god with a hamartia (fatal flaw). If he could just back away from the game a little and hire a real football man (rather than a suite) to run the day to day operations, he'd be the best owner around. Instead, we're always chasing "names" . The most famous manager, the most famous player (we could get), etc...It's no way to manage a club.

I agree, it's not the hiring of Benitez that is so upsetting, it's the treatment of Di Matteo and Wilkins without any real cause. The dismissal of Ancelotti because he had the gall to not win a trophy a year after Chelsea's greatest season ever. It's the panicked moves to buy expensive players who don't fit.

In all honestly, I couldn't care less whether he succeeds or fails here, even if this means that the club is also failing.

This is where we disagree. In 6 months Rafa will be gone and the club will continue to suffer if he fails. That's why I want him to succeed.

Exactly... I don't understand the reasoning for wanting us to fail so he does....

RDM WON THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AND FA CUP, ffs, if Rafa wins the league cup and club world cup, and pep says he wants to come back to management roman will drop him faster than a speeding bullet.

He is also only named as an interim manager and its not like he has been given a 5 year deal.

Wanting the whole club to fail because you don't like the interim manager is absolute LUNACY!

Now it is time, as fans, to sit your ass down and accept what's coming.

Some of you have the neve to question Roman with your custom made hazard/Oscar/mata/drogba avatars.

What a ridiculous notion. We can't criticise Roman because he's spent his millions on players? Any billionaire owner would have done the same without swinging the axe so prolifically.

Roman has been great for this club but he has to accept we are not his plaything. Chelsea FC is not a toy. This is a people's football club that has, admittedly, achieved so much under his tenure. Yes, we owe much to his desire to be the best, but look at City; financed by a man who lets football men make the football decisions. It is exactly as Mourinho said - if Abramovich was the manager, we'd be relegated; if Mourinho was the owner, we'd have become bankrupt. Roman needs to stick to what he does best and let the manager do his job and manage! It was clear Roman was never happy with the di Matteo appointment. Now he has someone he wants in charge - regardless of us fans and our feelings - so let's see if he takes a back-seat and lets Rafa run this club.

If he does just that, I'm more than happy for Benitez to be our manager.

Let's not rewrite history when it comes to Ancelotti. We were dire at times in his second season and the writing was on the wall for a fair amount of time before he left. You could tell from the crowd's reaction that we simply weren't performing at a high enough level and we certainly weren't entertaining.

The fact is Roman was painted into a corner. He didn't want to hire Di Matteo, but he had no other options. Then Robbie went and won the biggest prize in world football and he couldn't really get rid of him, so he had to wait until there was cause to sack him and replace him with a guy he saw as a more appropriate stop-gap.

Let's also not pretend that Robbie didn't give him the perfect reason to sack him - first holders to be eliminated at the group stages and dropped points against West Brom, Liverpool, Swansea and United. Now we can put those games in context and point to refereeing decisions of West Brom's form or even injuries to key players, but it provided Roman with the chance to get rid of a guy he never wanted in charge.

Does it hurt that it happened to a Chelsea legend? Absolutely. But Robbie knew exactly what he was getting into. He knew he had to be better than those who came before, but unfortunately it didn't work out.

Firing Mourinho was the only mistake roman made," in my opinion". Maybe he should have made better decisions regarding managers but everyone that he axed was the right choice.

I'm forever greatul to RDM for the CL glory but I never had the feeling he would be a permanent manager. And no need to call my notion ridiculous because plenty members here feel the same way.

Rafa is aware that he has a good squad and he probably knows that this is a great opportunity to establish himself as one of the best again. Who knows when he'll get a chance like this if he fails. Another important thing is that Benitez doesn't mind holding the seat warm for Pep or Jose next summer.

Anyway, I'm not saying that Roman was right for what he did to Roberto but I would never questions his commitment to Chelsea.

Stability for the sake of it, i personally hope they keep Mancini for many years to come, he is their weak link.

Look at Newcastle, one good season and their giving Pardew a kneejerk 8 years contract, something that is likely to bite them in the backside sooner rather than later.
