Made great effort to track back on that right flank, that's usually a football intelligence that comes with age as a flank player Still very RAW tho

Showed balls in initiative gotta give him that and I still believe he can be an iniesta type of midfielder.

I understand that this is a PR friendly, but Musonda showed exactly how a youth player should take their chances. There was no fear or holding back, but a determination to show off his full arsenal of skills. Several very good passes, excellent dribbling skills and good positioning. Lack of experience/nerves/whatever stopped him a few times from making the right decision, but he is 18 and it is to be expected.

He is another player that either needs a very tailored loan to really benefit from it, or that would be better off from staying with the first team. I know that players dont need the physique of Fellaini to prevail in PL, but Musonda should put on a few. He is very small when compared to even other technical specialists such as Messi, Suarez or Hazard.

A youth player that shows initiative and plays with confidence and lack of fear is always an encouraging sign. His display of tactical awareness against thailand was very impressive and he's done that all season. We better not mess this one up.

I agree, this one looks like a keeper. In Belgium he was touted as the only one that could match Hazard. I think that might be right tbh.

Actually, the feeling here in Belgium is that he is even more talented than Hazard (silly as it may sound). I have had the fortune of seeing him play when he was very young, and although his dribbling has always been unearthly, it's especially his vision and mental attributes that make him stand out. He played in teams that were much older than him, yet he was always captain and used to give tactical instructions to each player seperately before every match. In my humble opinion, he is the most talented nr. 10 player I have ever witnessed.

Bold.

I think he isn't typical number 10 but someone who can be great cog in the machine between midfield and attack. If Mourinho doesn't rate RLC work ethic he would love Musonda. He has amazing technique, I think clearly the best in Chelsea alongside Hazard and recently he added tracking back and tackles to his abilities. When he put muscles on his frame he will be perfect for Mourinho in my opinion. I think with his energy, consistency and hard-work he will easily play in many teams in Ligue 1. Let's hope for good loan.

Indeed he seems to contribute more to the defending aspect of the game, even without the added muscles (which he clearly needs imo).

What do you consider his best position? Lower down the field in a Xavi kind of role? I don't really prefer him coming from the wing, I rather have Boga doing that and him in the centre, but that's just my opinion...

Also, even with his seemingly frail figure, I can't recall him being injured lately (or is my memory letting me down?)

He's more of a mixture of Xavi and Iniesta. Xavi and Fabrégas are excellent passers and direct the flow of the game really well from deeper positions. The difference is that Charly can dribble really well (only Boga is arguably better than him in that regard), kinda like Inieasta. For that reason alone i think it would be a waste for him to play in a deeper midfield role.

I thought Praet and tielemans were more highly rated than him in Belgium?.

NO WAY [emoji23]. ( praet was now nominated as most overrated player in the league. Tielemans is indeed as talented imo, but is more an 8/6. Fucking ridiculous passing game btw.) Even years ago, when Eden was 17, he was unavoidable as a talent. Still, Musonda came along and it was clear he has a future. Boskamp, the nt1 coach, was a big fan. He is still the only talent which is truly believed to match Hazard. I believe he will btw. Unreal talent. For me, i only had this feeling with Hazard when he was young, this is it. [/exitfanboymode]

Interesting. Praet was definitely the most highly rated Belgian youth prospect at one point in time. Whether the hype was justified is another matter entirely. Where do you see Musonda's future. is it in AM or as a winger.

Although Tielemans is alsof regarded as a great talent, almost everyone in Belgium agreed that Musonda was even of a higher level. I recall a recent article by one of the Anderlecht Youth trainers stating that although Tielemans and Januzaj (who was also at Anderlecht at the time) where great talents, but that Musonda was -at that time- out of this world.
