Popular Post! Leif 6,006 Posted February 8, 2016 Popular Post! Share Posted February 8, 2016 I feel like Mourinho's insistence on a 'defensive winger' has infected this move (the board still seem to implement his ideas), hence why he was played as a winger for Betis and not a central attacker. (Why wouldn't you send him to a team who deploy a formation like ours so that he could actually fit properly? Anyway..) I feel like he'll become a more all-rounded player at Betis, but that'll mean compromising his overcompensation when it comes to creativity & spark. I'd rather a player who can't defend but creates magic in attack, compared to a balanced player who can do a bit of both. (It's like the difference between a Robben and a Kuyt.) At this age when we're developing players, we should focus on their strengths, not weaknesses. We always focus on the weaknesses of our youngsters and how we can improve Sturridge's mentality, Lukaku's first-touch, Musonda's lack of defensive nuance - instead of focusing on and honing their strengths; Sturridge's goal-getter mentality, Lukaku's physique, Musonda's creativity. We put a huge emphasis on "this part of your game isn't good enough" yet we don't see even 1 shred of "this part of your game is good enough" to balance it out. I hardly doubt Messi was told to improve his defensive game much, & Iniesta and Zidane aren't exactly the biggest ball-winners in history. Let Musonda become who he is supposed to be you stupid board. Who wants another Oscar? johnnythefirst 1,076
Seems like he needed a full 30 minutes to adapt to the La Liga level, got bullied quite a bit in that period, but by the second half his rushes could only be stopped by fouling him, eventually getting someone sent off.  Looking at the poor quality of players Betis has, he'll probably start most games and get a year and a half of experience playing some of the world's best teams. He made a very smart move.
Atholy 1,293
Really happy Charly could finally show his talent on senior level! Creds also to the Betis Manager for dropping him in for the whole 90mins in his first game! The video showed he was really hungry to show the world what he's capable off. Some really great dribbles, 2 yellow cards for his direct opponent and a lot of freekicks won in dangerous areas! BUT also shows Charly is only 19 and is still has a lot to learn. Bad choices of few times, overdribbled himself and poor decision taking a shot from long range when he could have passed it to the side. This only shows why he's out on loan => to learn and to gain experience! Even with this mistakes... the Betis crowd still loved him, praised him and will push him forward in his progression! Imagine he would play at the bridge in the same way. Some would say he played really well... others would think he brings nothing to the team and loses the ball far too often. It's not unthinkable he might even got booed at times if this happened at the Bridge! So I think it's a really good thing he's out on loan, where he can slowly progress to a real star player instead of a kidstar!! Only thing we should ask ourselves... why didn't this happen last season
Gilvorak 3,734
Musonda didn't really get bullied. He's just playing on a poor team that couldn't string passes together hence why I compared them to a Championship team. They only had 1 win at home all season before yesterday. He didn't get a chance to showcase his ability because he simply couldn't get the ball. Anyone downplaying his dribbling ability and being dismissive of that performance isn't being very smart. First thing you look at for players like Charly making the leap is if their technical ability can translate at the senior level especially for someone of his build. Any average young player can score a goal or make an assist. The key is seeing just how good his first touch, flair, intelligence, close control, dribbling and ball retention skills can be against first team opposition, & if he has the fearlessness to attempt them. The likes of Messi, Neymar, Hazard (not comparing him to them yet obviously) all had that early on, it's the mark of a special player. That's what I'm looking forward to seeing the most over these next couple of months. All in all it was a very good professional debut especially considering he was playing out a position The Skipper, Shakez and Jeronimo123

I want a coach that takes more gamble on youth. Instead we went for Mourinho. Now we got Hiddink.....if we do the same shenanigans this summer we will never have a coach that gambles on youth. The two coaches I know that definitely takes chances are Bielsa and Pochetino. Shakez
MCM4PR3Z 411
Who cares who is the better one, Boga or Musonda. RLC, Musonda and Boga should be starters next season for us. Any coach that doesn't see that should f*ck off imo. TheIceMan and bellion

blues.bridge 343
this team won't win nothing! if we would like play with rlc and pogba,we had to use 3 midfielder! in a 4-2-3-1, two midfielder are the central of the playing! and pogba-rlc are two box to box, with zero capacity to manage the rithms! manpe

Shakez 755
I think it was a very smart choice to loan him out to Betis in La Liga for his development. Although Real Betis is a pretty poor team, the exposure he's getting there is already invaluable. Nobody would be talking about him if he had the same debut in Ligue1, The Championship, or The Eredivisie. They are already raving about him in various Spain media after 1 game, and if he continues to play like this, he will surely land a better loan destination within La Liga in the near future. When you look at players like Mata, Silva, Isco,... They all started their careers at second tier La Liga teams before becoming key players at Valencia, Malaga,... and eventually taking the big leap in joining Chelsea, City, Real,... La Liga to me is the ideal learning ground for young playmakers, even though it's dominated by Barca and Real. The most important thing now is that he plays alot. If i compare him with Boga: Boga is already 6 months at Rennes, and still doesn't manage to grab a consistent starting spot (in an equally bad team). Or they start him horribly out of position (lone striker). Betis already gave Musonda squad nr. 8 and a full 90 min debut game, after 1 training week. That alone shows us that they are putting alot of faith in him, and aren't afraid to field him. Yeah I'm thinking now that Charly wasn't loaned because Chelsea was waiting for the right club and role to come. However, he did sometimes handle the situation in a bad manner. When I watched the first half I thought "Great, here we go again". Can you imagine that I saw Boga playing as a centre forward at Rennes and they were pinning long balls towards him ? Charly's consistency and mental strength can help him through these tough times when he's ball watching for 20 minutes.
