Blue Armour 4,439
Mistake leaving him as a captain, when clearly he's a just substitute captain to Cahill. Should have given it to Hazard mid way in the season, like they were planning,..would have made him take ownership of the team, just like he did for Belgium. He wanted it too, judging from that Instagram post where he posted a pic of himself with the armband. Azpi is a good player, but it takes more than badge thumping and watching youth games to be a good leader. Didn't act like a leader when it mattered. kellzfresh

I thought Azpi was better than this. Opened my eyes now. I believe there was an incident earlier in the season between Sarri and Azpilicueta on the training ground. For a good time now I've lived under the impression that Azpi is one of the anti-Sarri players in the squad. Why he still is the captain remains a mystery

Call me crazy but I think Cahill was a better captain than Azpi. I remember us complaining about him but this match showed me Azpi has no business of wearing the armband. IMO Cahill organizes the back 4 better than Azpi, even though Azpi is a better defender than Cahill. But that's another debate, that no longer matters. Why he still is the captain remains a mystery It's getting pretty clear he doesn't want to upset the dressing room and defends them so he can make his way to the summer and hopefully sort this out. If he says Kepa is an idiot for what he did, strips Azpi of his band or benches Willian for CHO they will go riot and try to get him sacked in no time. 0007 511
Azpi disappointed me big time today. He was the first one to congratulate Kepa after the ET and even argued with Sarri while Rudiger was the one holding our manager and trying to calm him down.Captain material,my a*s! Blue Armour 4,439
Stupid. Anyway I hope this was just a one off. We have bigger fish to fry and dont need more soap operas. Things can be sorted out after the season. We dont need a Conte Costa type situation midway Johnnyeye and Fulham Broadway
DDA 9,938
Azpi has been a fantastic player for us over the years but how the fuck he is captain, I will never know. He has gone into hiding in the last few weeks and yesterday he completely let down Sarri and the Club full stop. He could have defused the situation between Kepa and Sarri but instead stood and watched from afar. He doesn't have leadership im his bones. May explain why he may have seen it but not understanding what the hell was going on. That said, doesn't look good on his part that he didn't do anything. NikkiCFC 8,319
He is trying to hard to be something he is not! Didn't even knew do we want to take penalties first or not. Had to ask someone. Even fat ref laughed at us. Johnnyeye

The players were trying to prepare and focus for the shootout and Sarri was still going mad over the earlier incident. He had a right to be angry but should have focused on the matter at hand at that point of time first. He's the manager, be the leader your players are looking at, be the bigger man. Deal with the shootout and then go pissed off at Kepa for all you want. Can't believe he even threatened to just ignore the pep talk after that. What a fucking farce this whole situation is!
