Mata has been superb. Just because he isn't scoring or assisting as frequently doesn't mean he's ineffective.

Would you call Iniesta or Xavi uneffective ? They don't get a lot of assists or goals but they do massively contribute to their team.

This is the same for Mata. He's playing in a different role now. Less assists and goals but vital to our attacking game.

This game seems to be easy on paper, but I tell you it may turn out to be a complete surprise if our players don't perform to their usual standards. Though Atletico are no match to Chelsea's class, lets not forget that they had beaten Internazionale in 2010.

Midfield is the place where we may win or lose it. Frank Lampard has to start this game, again as our captain. His experience and ability to score vital goals is totally unmatched at CFC. I would prefer Sturridge to start on RW, Hazard playing behind the striker and Mata on LW.

In defense it sould be Brana, Luiz, Cahill and Cole.

Mikel will have to be 100% sure of his defensive duties. Diego and Falcao could make it a real trouble for him, but if he plays like he played in Munich, we will surely win this trophy.

If you watch the games (full) and not just highlights, you'll see he has adopted a slightly deeper position - he's now the man that spreads the play and doesn't always have the last touch.

I think he's been playing well - but also agree - he really could do with a rest - couple of weeks off... Poor guy single handedly created nearly every chance for us last season!

I don't like Ramires in that position... I would also question Lampard too - I'd prefer Raul to Ramires....

That line-up is way too defensive... we need more width up front - as an outlet... Both Hazard + Mata drift inside too much...

Well yeah there's not much alternative although Luiz has been annoying this season. Still a very good back 4 on paper tho but would be interesting if he played Cahill with Ivanovic and Azpi at RB. Pretty unlikely tho.

This will be a very tough game but if we play to our capabilities, we should get the job done. I'm sure they will look to Falcao the whole time and although he had a good game at the weekend, all the goals we would've stopped i'm sure. Bilbao's defending was awful. There's not much else Falcao aside that strikes fear into me.
