kellzfresh 7,229
The way he hassles down opponents is incredible. I don't think I've seen another AM with a better work-rate than oscar
Bir_CFC 3,455
If you're going to judge Oscar's influence using stats then you should just sell him now. Yeah he'll get the stats but he's more of an Iniesta (+Ramires ) type player, where he'll instinctively pass and move, and set the tempo unlike Mata who is so direct in the final third. Oscar should be judged on his passes, pass completion, his touches, his heat map showing how much he was involved. He is the man who will make the pass before the assist not necessarily the assist (that's Mata or Hazard most often). And, nothing wrong with this, this is where he's best at imo, at least better than the other 2 amigos imo. kellzfresh, semiller1313, Peace. and 1 other

Iniesta has better first touch and carries the ball better. Iniesta has an ability to draw defenders and still be in control, making space for other with a little burst of speed.I've not seen the match but seeing Alaba scoring two goals, I guess Iniesta has opened huge space for Alaba coming from behind. For me Hazard is more like Iniesta, he's better when playing a bit deeper, closer to the midfield like under Benitez and has the ability to draw defenders, carries the ball into positions to leave space from a guy running from behind. Often the games I liked the most from Hazard where games when he had not assists or goals but was letting other players in great positions to finish the actions. Strike 7,489
Oscar should be our playmaker CM if we don't sign any clear-cut midfield starters this summer. A midfield duo (because I hate that p-word people use too much) with Oscar will work well because he has the foot-work and balance to get past opposition mids and run at their defence. If we don't get an established playmaker, I think signing a DM and pairing him with Oscar can work. He's not in the Isco/Gotze mould who can be effective on the flanks. He's more in the Modric/Thiago mould who can operate well in a CM role mediator
Mouri_Matic 560
He is tired now, after this tournament I hope Jose let him rest and use Kevin/Schurrle a lot, I wouldn't mind if Oscar is a sub until September when he will probably recovers and could be at his best again. Offensive wise, playing Oscar in the pivot () may seem tempting and like a good move but defensively, we still don't know how will he cope there. He may have performed decently defensively when playing elsewhere but question should be there on whether he can play in pivot effectively, both offensively and defensively given he isn't exactly the biggest or strongest of players in regards to physical strength. He can do a good pressing job. With defensive security alongside him, he will do well in the (ugh) pivot. I think CM is a better position for him than out wide

Their jobs are fundementally different. Oscar is in dangerous positions much more often, shoots more, and should be the guy getting the assist and scoring and he wasn't. His work rate and defensive work are both very good, but he needs to take a step up this year to be good enough to start regularly for Chelsea. Given his age and his inexperience in the Premier League going into the year, I fully expect this to happen.

It's either the wings/Attacking Mid or in the deeper midfield role where Oscar will get continuous starts.

I too wanna see Oscar being tried out in the pivot ( ) but till that happens, I still question whether defensively, he can fit in there. The Skipper 20,609
Well, defensively, stats are on his side. Didn't he make our second most tackles last season? His work rate and tactical maturity also favour him. I agree that he's not nailed on to be successful there but it's definitely more favourable that he will... Again though, it remains to be seen.
