Deanocfc 22
I'm so excited to see Oscar. I'm quite surprised we've managed to sign such a huge talent. He is my perfect type of player. A clever, quick footed, central midfielder with good physical ability. I know he is versatile and has said he'd play anywhere, but we should look to build the team around Oscar and Mata. Ryan Fong 2,776
But lampard has been better than all our other midfielders that play similar roles... I highly doubt its an either or deal... I personally think both will be regulars and Lampard will probably be able to help oscar adjust to the prem... I too can't wait to see Oscar play for us, he will have a big role to play and i am pretty sure he will be a starter, as his passing and quality on the ball is something we need...If Lampsy and Oscar are both on the pitch then I think Oscar will most likely be forced to the wings. Unless both Mata and Hazard are willing to play on the wings then Oscar can play in the hole.

Unless both Mata and Hazard are willing to play on the wings then Oscar can play in the hole.I think we will have Mata left Hazard right oscar middle then Lamps and mikel behind... Lamps won't need to venture forward as much as we have a lot of attacking threat ahead of him so lots of the holes that opened up should hopefully be closed...What could change that is if someone like hulk were to sign then Oscar would get pushed back and Lampard may miss out, with hazard in the middle and Mata on the left... Funkyflashman 187
I cannot see Oscar being anything other than a regular starter. I know a lot of people say that he's young and inexperienced but at the same time he is absolutely running the show for Brazil, and the first choice Brazil number 10 is not a rotation player for his club. Excited. Hutcho
Spike 12,049
Oscar will wear the Chelsea number 11 jersey. The midfielder, who is currently with the Brazilian team at the London Olympics, will fill the shirt vacated by Didier Drogba in the summer.Drogba had worn the shirt since 2006, when he replaced Damien Duff having previously sported the number 15.Prior to Duff, Boudewijn Zenden had inhabited the 11, having replaced the legendary Dennis Wise who had worn the shirt from when squad numbers were introduced in 1993 until he left for Leicester in 2001.http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~2873078,00.html Sheva. and The Skipper
J.F. 1,484
Number 11 should be retired! xPetrCechx
Spike 12,049
Number 11 should be retired!Starting XI number should never be retired. Anyway, if we retired number 11, we would have to retire number 8. And if we retire number 8 we would have to retire number 26. And with those three we would probably have to retire number 3 and 1. Eventually the vicious cycle would continue and every number retired.
Waterfall 893
I can see JT's number being unofficially retired, but there's no way that numbers from 1 to 11 should or will be retired. If we want to honour the likes of Drogs and Lamps, we should build statues of them instead. Pacquiao and BlueLion.
Land 331
Number retiring is just dumb, specially in attack. BlueLion. and francozola
The Big Drog 1,110
If anyone deserves the number it's Oscar. Just like Drogba carried the team for years, I think Oscar can do the same. Not in the same fashion of Drogba, for obvious reasons, but I think he can be just as successful.
Tomo 21,751
Retiring numbers 1-11 should never be done unless the circumstances are extreme, like Maldini's for example.
Beigl 1,387
I don´t know why some Chelsea Fans angry about the fact that Oscar will wear the 11 on his back.Yes Drogba is a legend and the best striker Chelsea ever had,but if Chelsea wouldn´t give the numbers of the legends to the new player then we have in 50 years only numbers like 80 left.. BleedsBlue 1,549
Oscar has been having a terrific Olympics and I am glad we signed him up.Ill admit I was quite saddened by this move primarily because of KDB's exit on a loan move but I guess its well worth the sacrifice. Spike 12,049
How many young kids dream of things like "I want to wear number 11, just like Drogba when I grow up"? I'd wager more than a few. It's not much but just that dream can help spur on a youngster to take that chance of being a pro footballer.
Jase 43,479
Have no problem with him taking the No.11 shirt. Has the potential and talent to become great but will need time to settle.

TrippingStep 336
Great video. And besides the quality of the player. What is great to see on his is that you can see that Brazil doesn't play to put that many people in the box. They pass the ball 30 meters of the goal, waiting to set-up play and sudden burst of acceleration.Change of rythm and penetration.I hope to see this style of play for the team but I'm affraid that we won't see it.Maybe in 2013-2014 with a new coach and some legend player of the club retiring. Peace.
BlueLion. 21,491
Retire the number 11, lmfao. You do not retire 1-11 jerseys at big clubs. You honour them with a next generation of talent adorning them, ie. Real Madrid's number 7 belongs to its greatest players.
