Sheva. 5,373
In conclusion people have double standards when the subject is Fernando Torres.Reminds me of the time Torres hit the woodwork and Lampard ended up scoring.Haha more like you having different standards when it comes to Torres and other players. When i was watching the game i honestly didn't even notice Cahill was there, this is the first time i've seen the highlight of that chance, and perhaps Torres could have passed. But for the Ramires chance it was obvious Torres was in a better position, not just even a better position, wide open with no one close to him. dumps 284
everyone seems to think the same thing and normally that means we are right! i dont know why hes not playing. he looks really good. even if it is on the wing.the only problem with playing sturridge on the wing means not having hazard/mata/Ramires?/Marin? on the pitch. Mata does need a rest, so i see it as a great time to give him some game time so he can prove he deserves more football. I would love to see him get some time in Torres' position, i've not seen him play as a striker recently.if he goes on a free at the end of the season i will not be happy!hopefully RDM reads this forum and gives him soem time! Term-X 7,891
This will be the shock of the window, Sturridge to Liverpool, crazy fee. The Moses move is suspect, regardless of how long we've been eyeing him.

Term-X 7,891
As the above posters mentioned, Sturridge probably won't renew his contract (for which he only has a year left). The club won't be able to promise him first team football, and they won't exactly be 'throwing' money at him in this climate. BlueJewel 56
Sturridge has two years left on his contract and is currently earning £65k a week . I thought he was fantastic last night, I've been a fan of him since I first saw him play in his brief cameos under Ancelloti. He's probably the most talented English forward of his age, I think he gets overly critised in these parts, his play can be immature at times, but this is essentially his second season as a full professional at the highest level playing in an unfavoured position and he is still only 22. I'd be very sad if Chelsea loses him to one of her rivals, his situation is so reminiscent of Arjen Robben when he was a youngster at Chelsea. Most of the time he just seems to get a rush of blood and ends up shooting.

Plus I think that AVB instructed him to shoot as often as he could IMO. It's what inside forwards do. TorontoChelsea

Currently we can't offer him enough first team football to keep him happy and there's no way he is renewing his contract if he can't get a game because he knows he'd be a starter for most Premier League clubs. We can't afford to let him go for free next year so if he's not signing an extension, then we really should be looking to sell him in January at the latest but this transfer window would be even better. I'm not saying I want to get rid of him but the board need to do the sensible thing here and solve this thing by the end of next week, one way or the other. Blue-in-me-Veins 4,067
If we buy nobody else this wondow, he WILL get enough first team games no doubt about it, Torres aint exactly the DDA and capable of playing 50games IMO. he (studge) will play enough games, if he takes his chances RDM will be given no chance BUT to play him and extend his contract, but with one yealr left i understand the caution that many people have. i believe in Studge and think he will ultimately stay and make best out of his chacnes. that just me. nadavTKL 1,787
Its not realy worrying, if Studge is out, we'll have a new CF. Anyway i prefer that he'll stay and fight for Torres's place.I think both of them and Moses as a 3rd option are enough.
Atwa 78
He might be considering the Liverpool deal that seems to be out there, only waiting on whether Chelsea buys another CF or not.

There would have been a storm of articles and rumours linking him to other clubs if he had just a year left. Even if he was to leave in a year, Chelsea would have to receive compensation from his new club as he'd still be under 23. I'm pretty sure contract negotiations to extend his contract would begin this season.http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/arsenal-manchester-city-tottenham-and-liverpool-887056http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2097966/Arsenal-want-Chelseas-Daniel-Sturridge.html

BlueJewel 56
We'll find out for sure pretty soon but from the English press all I can make out is that he has 2 more years left on his current contract, either way I expect him to get a new contract soon. Says there that he got a four year deal and that would be ending in 2013, like I already said and like every source is reporting. He hasn't got any contract extensions since joining so it's pretty obvious that his current deal is expiring next year. I would trust the club's official website over Daily Mail and Daily Mirror any day.
BlueJewel 56
I think his contract probably had an automatic extension based on appearance for the club, national team etc. I don't believe Chelsea would let the contract of a young, talented (potential) England international run out without at least attempting to offer him a new one. Sturridge is in my opinion better than Walcott and has greater potential but Arsenal are looking to offer him(Walcott) a 5 year contract with top wages with a year of his current contract left, even though he's demanding more. DH1988 1,348
What annoys me about Sturridge being linked elsewhere, which I don't mind tbh, as he is notoriously selfish and clearly has a bad attitude, is that if he were a city or Liverpool player doing what's he's done for us - scored goals from the wing and had a successful spell at Bolton etc we would literally be quoted like 25-30m as he's English and people take the piss out of us for fees anyway. If we did sell him he'd probably go for 15m which is frustrating to think of..
