Anyone else think the club is phasing him out like they did with Borini and the injury is bullshit?

They bloody better not be!Sell him who does score and run and move around when given a chance.Granted may be selfish at times but that can be worked out...however selling and keeping Torres..no chance...I hope

Our board isn't exactly known for smart decisions, just look at what they decided so far this season:

- Go into season with only 2 strikers

- Send Malouda to the reserves despite our thin squad

- Sack RDM

- Appoint Benitez

- Refuse to give Cole the deal he wants

- The calttenburg fiasco

I wouldn't be surprised at all if we sell Danny in Jan. Gutted, but not surprised.

You forgot 'Letting go 2 CMs on the last day of transfer window without getting any replacements'. Do that and then they expect RDM to work wonders with a thin squad. The minute something goes wrong, they just sack him! It's just mistake after mistake committed by the club this season. Absolutely pathetic!

That wasn't a bad decision, or has his long absence make people forget how bad he actually was? We aren't thin in his position (left wing), we have 5 players capable of playing there.

That's got to be the understatement of the century.

'May be selfish' :D

Try unbelievably selfish to the detriment of the team. He's 23 with almost 150 professional games under his belt. This is who he is. He is the antithesis of the player we will be looking to include going forward.

I think the board were essentially writing this season off. They basically looked for ways to reduce costs, which would explain the Meireles and Essien moves. Malouda is clearly being punished for not leaving.

When you look at all the players being sent out on loan, I think the club is trying to put itself in a position for a run at trophies from next season. The club we were 8 years ago is not the club we're going to be next year in terms of personnel, their wages, their transfer fees and their ages.

Chelsea FC is going to be a business in future.

He's a body in midfield and is also capable of playing CM where we are lacking cover. We could at least have played him in the league cup and rested Mata or Rami or someone..

But let's get back on topic please.

With Sturridge being under the age of 24 I imagine a deal for him would go to a tribunal should he decide to leave in the summer. Obviously that's assuming his contract expires next summer which no-one seems to be able to clarify at the moment.

The problem is that we also spent more than any other club in the transfer market. We gave David Luiz an unneeded and massive new contract. You can't have massive spending and then making little cuts to try to save money. It's ridiculous... It's like weightlifting. If you're lifting weights, one thing you figure out early is that you can't build muscle and lose weight at the same time.

We spent big because we had to. We looked to make savings because we had to,

I'm not sure of the details of the Luiz 'massive' contract - how much more is he being paid?

Personally I don't think it's ridiculous in the slightest. If you're increasing your expenditure then you have to make cuts where you can. Like I said, Chelsea is going to be run differently than it was in the past and that means cutting the existing costs as well as looking to use the academy better.

9 years its been,, i call BS on it being a mistake. they've seen what it takes to win the league and to think they can be this naive,, im beginning to think they setup RDM to only fail.

His representatives denied him making wage requests in order to join Liverpool, but interestingly enough they did not deny his desire to join Liverpool: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/8308047/?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed

Cant see Danny and Suarez getting on at Liverpool.

Mind you Danny seems not really get on with anyone when he's on the pitch.

He apparently is requesting that he is only played through the middle, if thats the case i dont see him being in a better position than he is here. Suarez will always be chosen ahead of Sturridge, He's got a better chance getting time on the pitch here because Torres is playing worse compared to Suarez and its just a matter of time before torres is dropped.

If he is sold, at least we can be certain of us buying a new striker. recalling Lukaku is an option, but i think he needs a bit more experience before he is ready to lead us.

I don't see why people are so sad about Sturridge now, when we've all talking about signing Cavani, Huntelaar, Falcao et al.; a signing that would kill his career here.

Sad? I'm delighted. Finally his career will take off :)

how bad our transfers are, we will realize after letting sturridge go and that too to pool. with pool having no strikers, danny will get ample time and with "the cunt" (suarez) behind him he ll be a great threat.

Yea, its unfortunate for Sturridge. If we never signed the 50 million dollar blonde, Sturridge would of been given more opportunities in the first team.

I'd take a young, hungry, slightly selfish striker over Fernando "finished" Torres anyday of the week. He'll do well at Liverpool.
