mediator 2,026
Do we really need another CB with the like of Kalas and Omeruo ? I mean With Luiz Cahill Terry we still have first team players, i don't see the need to sign another CB (even if world class).Omeruo looked strong in the confed cup. I don't think Kalas and Omeruo are really pushing for first team appearances, the defence is shaky enough
The Skipper 20,609
Possibly have Shaw & PVA as LB options next season. That would be interesting.
The Mak 4,459
It's only a matter of time as far as I can see. If he leaves Southampton it'll be for us. Even if the likes of United or City came in for him, I don't think we'd allow them to bid for him unchallenged...at least I hope not.
BleedsBlue 1,549
Many top clubs(free spending ones too) will be looking to sign him but we have one advantage which none of the other clubs have-Luke Shaw SUPPORTS Chelsea FC and is fan of the club.I don't know about you guys but I like such players who really like the club and show such kind of passion and desire. Definitely a must sign player.

bushman 2,043
OK boys, I do not consider myself an expert on transfers, but if I may, here is my choice to buy, asap.According to the article, if Chelsea can guarantee him a starting role, he is coming over. I honestly believe, Jose just might offer it to him, easily. Cole has been benched & Shaw can start playing there, no problem, I feel.

Perhaps, in the summer ?thats why I said "winter transfer period"...I think in the summer, there will be a new situation. What I dont get is, why he extended his contract, making it more difficult to get him. If we want him in the summer, I think we will get him. would be a great LB but he will cost a lot, because they know that we have the money and a lot of clubs are interested in him. People like Roman can outfox it, easily. A 100m sponsorship arranged from Russia, the deal is done & stupid Platini can kiss his butt. Stats 7,147
Shaw got so much potential but for such a young kid picks up far too injuries which might be a continuous problem when he gets older. Reminds me of Ledley King. Hope it does not affect his career but picks up injuries quite easily.

He does seem to be getting a lot of little niggling injuries though, the same thing happened to Bale when he was younger.
Phil Driver 503
Ledley Kind had a degenerative knee condition ,not a pulled muscle . Strange comparison as a 18 year old has not fully developed yet and would be expected to pick up muscle injuries, very few 18 year olds play every game in top divisions. shellpick 13
To me Luke Shaw is overrated due to his potential. In fact potential can never be taken as ability at any age. Surely Luke is much more muture than his peers and he is quite a good LB. No wonder his potential is so high that the media is too eager to think twice before they salute him as the future star. Of course he has the potential to be everything if he continues to develop quickly. But this is not granted and his recent frequent injury seemingly indicates that his future is not so certain.I am not entirely against buying him but I seriously doubt his value. Such a player who is mature comparatively in his age is not so sure to be a star in the future. Many of this kind may stop developing or develop very slowly or just get destroyed by injuries. Hence I would say it is highly risky to buy him by a price over 20M. However, an offer below 20M probably will not impress Southampton. Thus, I am not quite optimistic in this deal. I hope the club can find some other gifted and briliant LB just like they found Azpilicueta.

The niggles will stop in a year or two.
