We should put in a bid for him. I think he will be a better bench player than Mikel. Will also offer much needed leadership.

Please NOOOOO I'm fed up Chelsea signing players that are done

No

His an upgrade on Mikel and Matic and would help develop Ruben and Nat as he wont have to sign a long term contract whilst he contributes with his exprience. His arguably better than Cesc in that 4-2-4 formation

Shirt sales and Merchandise ... he still is a big player.

Clubs make pretty much nothing from shirt sales. Adidas would get almost all of it.

I'm aware of it but there is always a percentage that goes to the club ... If Adidas gets it all then let them fund it for us :P ....And if he can play the way he played in the Euros, he could be a good backup in terms of a player and experience specially when we're in the transition phase.

At £200,000/week you want to sign a bench player?

Mate, you can't just think players will automatically walk in and be leaders. This is a new football club he's going to, it's not Bayern, he won't be a leader straight away as you believe so. Not when he's the new guy, coming off a disappointing domestic season. He's got something to prove, should've moved to England years ago.

I'm sure it's not that simple. Image rights play a huge part of transfer deals lately, well in the player contract negotiation. I'm sure it's the same with sponsorship deals with kit manufacturers etc.

I knew this would get dug out after Mou mobbed him away. I was not a fan of his when he still was in his prime due to his constant inability to maintain his peak form for more than 5 games per season (there is a long post from about him  earlier in this thread) . Now it is even worse, he simply is done. Has played professional football for about 15 years now and similar to Rooney is simply over the hill. And this at an age where his great idol just came off a season scoring 30+ goals for club and country....

squad player for 200k per week? no thank, spent force, even though the way Mourinho has ousted him is utterly disgusting.
