Hadn't heard about that. Is there a link about anywhere mate? All i've seen is that he's due to meet with Lille this week to speak about his future.

It was in the Gazetta, but I read it on al jazeera which is always 100% relaibel: http://www.aljazeerasport.net/news/football/2012/06/201262615032971903.html (in arabic though)

Cheers mate. Interesting.

(For anyone who's Arabic isn't quite as good as mine haha, here's a translation: http://translate.goo...5032971903.html )

Hopefully this should push other teams into action. Perhaps Chelsea will be one, although i'm not sure how strong our interest actually is.

Yes Maicon's departure is official.

But I do think we should make a bid for Debuchy, I don't think he would want to move to Inter just to play in Europa League.

It will probably mean we'll buy maicon!

Hope not from what i've seen from debuchy he looks good and anything under £10m would be good value.

Sad cause he is great, but the positive side is that if Inter get him we can get Azpi! blue%20scalf.gif

Yes would he agree to go to Inter? They don't look like getting into the CL anytime soon, would be better if he stayed at Lille imho.

Inter are a top team. They are not a Spurs, where one fail season will look bad.

Expect Inter to be back there in a season.

So if Inter is the only team right now, he most likely will accept.

Inter are threatening to turn into Liverpool. Snjeider is probably their only top player.

In fairness they have only become a "top" team in the last decade or so, historically they were a very average team in Italy. (no offence to Inter fans).

Back to Debuchy, I think if we match Inter's bid, he will most likely join us instead.

Somebody needs to ring up Hazard or even 'Agent Cole'. :P

Rudi Garcia has confirmed Debuchy wants to leave. Will only let him go IF they can get a replacement though.

http://www1.skysport...rm-over-Debuchy

"Mathieu wants to go," Garcia confirmed to RMC.

"But we do not have a plan for him to leave, he will not go unless I find a replacement of the same level.

"And he is a international player, he will cost - we will need to bring in a right-sided player of the same calibre and that requires a lot of money.

"If we find that, it will cost and we will have to pay that.

"Mathieu is one of my leaders, one of my major players and he is an example to follow.

"I understand his desire to leave, but we must find a replacement - my role is not to put my team in jeopardy."

This guy is 26 isn't he?

Not very young for a right back.. then again who else is available... van der Wiel? .. no thanks!

I don't see your point. A club aiming high only purchases finished products. And to be honest, putting aside the exceptions, it's hard to find a defender who'd be mature enough in his play before being ~25 years old : defensively, tactically and with good rythm management (when to go forward, when to keep the ball, when to clear...)

Bosingwa was also 26 when Chelsea signed him and yet he was really average tactically when he arrived.

It's not like when you promote a young striker to end the games, to start Cup games etc... United's Fabio, Arsenal's Jenkinson or even our own Mikel 5 years ago were often weak links, in big games by example, because they couldn't handle pressure. Because those roles are very important roles on the pitch (I don't mean striker isn't but you rarely lose a game after a striker's individual mistake) and you can't put a young player only for the useless perspective "to promote youth" (especially if you have high targets)

You have to know what you want: purchasing "young exciting prospects" (considering that younger the player is, the more it's be assimilated to a bet) and becoming a post-formation club with the aim to sell players 2 or 3 times the price they were purchased. Enjoying a busy Academy and because of the lack of funds, playing youth every week and be condemned to osccilate between the bottom and the top of the table (even in a whole unique season).

Or, like Chelsea, purchasing £10M+ players, enjoying sporting success and coming one day to the point to letting go some players for free or a ridiculous fee
