Jase 43,479
The funny thing is, Mourinho said Hazard wasn't in a top condition in the second leg against Atletico and yet started him in that game which then of course, he made 2 costly defensive errors and criticize him after that. Given Hazard played then, am of the opinion that he should still have done better but from Mourinho's POV to begin with, he should know better not to start him when he wasn't at 100%. LDN Blue 7,903
Mourinho needs to be careful with such comments. We've seen Hazard doesn't react well to this kind of stuff and if goes talking to the media again, we'll have a problem

Jase 43,479
or from Mourinho's point of view Hazard is too important to the team that he risked himBeing important to the team is one thing but he was never 100% fit, was he? Can't expect a non-fully fit player to just turn it on in a huge game like it was then and against one of the toughest teams around. Easy to say this on hindsight now, it was a risk taken but a risk that has more potential failure than success.

Jase 43,479
yeah but he's a lot better player than Schurrle. That's why it was taken i guessHazard is indeed a better player than Schurrle (or any of our attacking players) but given the recent form, Schurrle himself wasn't doing badly and arguably deserves more. Given Hazard played then, am of the opinion that he should still have done better but from Mourinho's POV to begin with, he should know better not to start him when he wasn't at 100%.In my opinion, Mourinho gave that critic on Hazard mainly because of Hazard's comment after the match. Mourinho must exactly know the risk to let Hazard play in that condition, he take that risk because Hazard is very important and unfortunately the worst things has happened. Mourinho will not criticize his performance in front of media if Hazard say nothing after the match. But, then here comes Hazard' comment after the match and Jose pissed off because of that. You could see another obvious example in Eto'o case. I think his foul inside the box is far more stupid than Hazard, but Jose not criticize him or even mentioned about it.

He took a risk - rightfully imo - that he'd be eaten alive if he didn't. That was his best player and one that could have decided the match for us. Playing Hazard was a must
