Jase 43,479
Probably because he isn't known for tracking back. Apparently he was one of the players singled out for that against West Brom and Benitez prefers harder workers like Dirk Kuyt.Hopefully Eden will get there. It might just take a little time.Don't listen to the BS that is the English media! Hazard may not be the best defensively when tracking back but he has improved a lot on that recently than most people are giving him credit for. The English media like to turn a blind eye and conveniently exaggerate things about us especially when we are in a bad moment! The English media like to turn a blind eye and conveniently exaggerate things about us especially when we are in a bad moment! It's clear to see he doesn't like it when he's on the pitch though. He's getting much better at it but he seems to get a little gassed by it. Like I said, it's an area of his game he should improve and I'm sure Ashley will offer 'encouraging' words to track back. The fact is he's still very young and it's his first season in a new league. Anyone who thought it wouldn't have it's ups and downs, especially with the pace of the game, was deluding themselves.
Stingray 9,441
Something or someone is affecting his confidence. He's nowhere near the level he played at Lille atm. This. Very much. He will get around to performing, definitely. It's not like he is doing a Torres on us - despite what some ************** ******************* **********************************'censured'.This said - it annoyed me as well to see him in the last game when you know and admire what this kid can do (eg Lille). Actually, I wish he had a mentor (like Lampard, Terry) in the team that showed him what it takes to be a great winner, someone who can pick up the team. He would be awesome if he gained that quality ... Time is on his side, anyways.

BlueLion. 21,491
Hazard plays better when Lampard is in the team, in my opinion. Not exactly sure why, but we can definitely point to our worst games this season are when Frank has been absent. He has a calming influence and I think his experience is to the benefit of the youngsters like Oscar and Eden. kellzfresh 7,229
Hazard has the best ball control in our team, take defenders on and beat them. His talent is obvious just needs to show more hunger when we need him the most...

He hasn't been terrible per se. It's just the team is sluggish and crap creatively at the moment. Hamilton and Henrique

Henrique 9,133
Are you implying a team should one have one Belgian? Nonsense! No, I saying its time to stop spending big money on young players like Hazard, and spend less money on players like Fellaini. we are becoming a u21 team, even in this forum I used to read this kind of nosense, "this player is too old, he is already 27 years old". There are advantages to having young players in your team. Every team needs to find the right balance between experience and youth... and dismissing a player because he is too young is ridiculous when they have the ability like Hazard.Truthfully, Hazard is ready to play almost every week for any top club in Europe. And if Chelsea didn't buy him this summer, he would have been snapped up by another big club. Then he becomes some other club's asset and not ours. And Chelsea can't just let a player with that much potential slip through their grasp. It would just be bad business. Stingray

YouNameIt 1,511
I don't want to wait a year or two to see us become "what Arsenal could have been"What are you implying? Change takes time, it also takes time to adapt. We're playing a completley different style of football when what we used to, and that wont change over a few weeks.Regarding Hazard... The guy is still young, however, Im noticing a change of style. He's no longer challenging as he used to in his first games. He caused lots of danger for the defenders, got penalties etc. He's not quite doing that anymore. There has to be a reason for it. Maybe he was instructed (for some stuipid reason) not to?He just needs to do what he is best at, challenging, dribbling and rushing/cutting forward and in. He sort of "slowed" down recently... First of all it might take quite long untill they develop. Secondly, when they are good enough they might want to move back to their native country. That risk is pretty high id say.And Chelsea isnt really in need of making 6m on a player we bought for 1m 5 years ago.
Wiillowhobo 28
Couldn't agree more, Imagine if we had a proper centre-midfielder. Someone who could play decent attacking balls and actually pick out our attacking trio. You have one. Just put Oscar there.. whinni09
