Shane 2,275
I loved David Luiz, actually thinking of buying a Brazil world cup shirt with him on the back now, but he has gone from our 3rd choice center back to the most expensive defender in history Sal
different level 1,056
if only our buys were so simpleThey would be, if we are willing to overpay for our every transfer target. That was the case during the first couple of years in Roman's tenure and we made buying highly rated players look easy. Now we're still after top players, but this time we're only interested if the price is right without letting other clubs milk us. That's why almost done deals like Hulk, Cavani and Falcao didn't go through, we just refused to pay ridiculous amounts for them. Popular Post! The Skipper 20,609 Posted May 24, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted May 24, 2014 I laugh at those on here that are sort of ridiculing Luiz's talent. Bayern, Barcelona and PSG (all top teams that were interested in him) are not stupid. The price might be over excessive but an on form Luiz will be a special player for PSG. PSG had to blow the competition away with a huge bid to ensure that they got him over the other teams involved, coupled with the fact that he was pretty highly regarded here and us not truly being a selling club... It's easy to understand why the price for him was this high. The same way Cahill has benefitted and improved due to playing in a system that favours his strengths is the same way Luiz will improve and benefit at PSG. All the best David. Korea 734
The top 4 out of 5 transfers for defensive players have been Brazilians.

didierforever 7,349
When Mata was sold, there was a huge divide in this forum. However, with Luiz getting sold now, the divide is not so big. It's more one sided. All in all, its pretty similar situations with a huge difference in responses.luiz and mata transfers were similar???mata was transfered in the winter window. any deals, be it selling or buying in the winter window are generally cumbersome. the player you are buying may not be able to fit into your team or the you wont be able to replace the sold player's quality. mata left huge shoes to be filled, which unfortunately we could not fill. whu, villa, palace, sunderland, norwich. 5 games (3 at home) and we scored 1 goal in them. mata would have been essential in those games. his quality and class would have been vital. probbaly even jose knew that we wont be able to do that and hence always re-inforced the idea that we were not in the title race or that we were the "little horse". fans here were upset with the transfer cos they knew we simply could not replace the quality in the same window and it might end up costing us, which it did. but it was the best thing to do for chelsea in the long term and jose chose well.the other very essential reason people hated the mata transfer was the fact that we sold him to united. a direct rival. he was one of the most popular and loved players of all here, and he went to the club that almost everyone here despies. u cant expect people to stay calm when our POTY 2 times in the last 2 years is being sold to united. if he was sold to psg/RM/barca, the fans would not have gone so ballistic.another reason for the DL transfer getting such an awesome response is the mighty TRANSFER FEE. 50mil is not a joke. it is massive. and fans expect that 50mil to be used to get a quality CM. they know that our 5th/6th choice CB (behind JT,GC, iva, zouma and probably kalas in the eyes of our manager) will be sold to get a first team CM which we are in a dire need of. moreover DL was judged on his performance the whoke season and then deemed surpkus which is way more fair than mata. there are so many factors about this transfer which make it so much more acceptable. kellzfresh, different level and Muzchap

I slagged luiz a lot, but at psg I expect big things from him. Silva and luiz will become the best pair in the world. I bet we see a completely different luiz at psg vs chelsea.Best of luck to luiz The Skipper
didierforever 7,349
let the "next year is a transition year" excuse again. Its been a "transition year"since 2008we are done with transition. this was the last year and if u cant see THAT then well, you really need to seee.from the start of the last season to the start of this season these are the players that potentially would not be a part of chelseamatakdbessienbertrand* (has said that he wants first team and would look at options)luizetoocolelamps* (most probably will be released)torres* (should be sold to anyone who dares put a bid)mikel* (rumors are already there)schwarzerhilarioso that is a list of 12 players out of 25 that will be changed for us next season. u think the last season was not a transition one??? now jose has the players he wants. plus with costa coming in, we will have a striker to play with. EBH 283
David Luiz is perhaps the worst defender Chelsea have had in the Abramovich years. You should all be delighted that a hopeless incompetent like him rates 50m. Yeah yeah talent, drives the ball forward, long hair. None of that is useful whatsoever for a centre back. What kind of maniac manager picks a centre back for his attacking attributes? petre.ispirescu and SpecialistsInFailure
