mediator 2,026
Chelsea's David Luiz impressed by Paris Saint-GermainBy Jack Prescott, London CorrespondentFiled: Sunday, June 16, 2013 at 12:51 UKLast Updated: Sunday, June 16, 2013 at 13:18 UKChelsea defender David Luiz has admitted that he is impressed by the "project" taking place at Paris Saint-Germain.The Brazilian international has been linked with a summer move to the French champions.PSG have bought a number of Luiz's fellow countrymen in the past two years and the 26-year-old admires their spending policy."I'm talking a lot about PSG and its project with Brazilian players," Luiz told Telefoot. "The club made a good job in Ligue 1, and there have a very good players like Lucas Moura, Thiago Motta, Maxwell and Thiago Silva. And I don't speak about it with others, just Brazilians."Luiz is currently taking part at the Confederations Cup for Brazil. http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/chelsea/transfer-talk/news/luiz-impressed-by-psg_89201.html
Popular Post! The Skipper 20,609 Posted June 16, 2013 Popular Post! Share Posted June 16, 2013 Luiz doesn't have to make way at all. Luiz was our best central defender defensively last season, he was very consistent whether you like it or not. It absolutely annoys me to the max when people still act as if he can't defend - especially Chelsea fans who have more than likely watched most of his games at CB last season. His concentration was far better over the course of the season compared to the likes of Cahill or Ivanovic, who both respectively fucked up a lot more than Luiz did but still get a free pass because they're perceived as stereo typical "no nonsense" defenders. It's this mentality in English football that needs to change, it's why England can't play decent football - the mentality to hoof the ball up when you're a defender is rated more than a composed defender keeping the ball on the ground and thus keeping possession - which is exactly why England are so behind the likes of Brazil, Spain, Holland, Argentina etc. will always be ahead of English football in the modern game. If you want to play good football in the modern game, you need to start from the back. You need technically sound players who are comfortable on the ball starting from the back which England just do not have, especially since John Terry and Rio Ferdinand don't play anymore. Most of the English footballing nation, especially the media, seem to fail to grasp this notion and it's exactly why Luiz gets criticised easily because its unnatural to the eye here. A CB gets blasted here if he tries to keep the ball on the floor, keeping possession and thus giving his team a better chance but defenders like Cahill who boot it out of bounce to concede possession get praised for what is basically inferior football. Luiz is about to enter the prime years of his career, naturally with age his mental game will come along even further - I mean since last season it's come leaps and bounds to begin with. Luiz has all the tools technically, physically he's a monster - good pace, balance, agility, strength and mentally his game is only developing as we speak and people want to get rid of him for a no nonsense defender? We're not a small club that plays inferior football. If we want to play dominant football it has to start from the back, and there are few with the skill set of David Luiz that allow just that. We have such an unique defender here that can be moulded into a top top player by Jose and people basically want to get rid if a decent offer came along because they prefer defenders like Cahill? That's nonsense in my modest opinion. We don't need to sell Luiz because that'll leave us with another problem - we'd have to attain 2 CB instead of one. We need to keep Luiz and attain another CB, that's the best way forward. Our defence is one of the least thing we have to worry about, we only need one more addition to pretty much make it perfect and people still want to chop and change it? To say our defence is ageing and to say that we're ignoring it is ignorant in my opinion especially considering 2 of our starting back four are still very young (Luiz 26, Azpilicueta 23). I still can't believe people are still associating Luiz as our error prone defender when as in fact he was our least error prone defender throughout the season and was 90% of the time very solid, oft excellent as a CB last season. Why people still can't look past what the media have said about this lad baffles me completely. He was one of our best players last season and obviously will only grow as a player - a defender's best years start at around 28ish. Like I've said many times before, you don't fix what isn't broken. CHOULO19 24,332
You can say he's a bad defender, question his decision making, call him undisciplined, but to actually say David Luiz is a terrible footballer...fucking hell! I've seen it all now To anyone doubting Luiz's footballing ability, just take a look at this:

bluesman2610 1,417
i wonder if ppl in napoli thread are as adamant about selling someone like hamsik when there is no real need like ppl are are about selling luiz again when there is no real need? lets sell our best cb so we can buy another cb and still face the issue of who to pair the new guy with that we did with DL last season that makes a whole lot of sense The Skipper
Fernando 6,585
I don't want him to go, but if the money is good, it's good.Especially I rather sell to someone like PSG then to Barcelona.
Sheva. 5,373
Fuck PSG. Luiz stays, play him with someone like Terry or Silva - a solid defender and a leader on the pitch - and you have a very good duo, with Luiz able to bring the ball out and also his long range passing. Bir_CFC 3,455
Here's a crazy thought. Instead of replacing our best CB, why don't we replace our worst one? Hmm..if we keep doing that maybe then our defence will improve. I can't remember the last time Luiz made a mistake resulting in a goal. Tomo 21,751
What did he say now?Brazil are great going forward but going back David Luiz can be a liability (like how he mentions him and not say, Marcelo). Can't remember it word for word but it was something along those lines and completely out of the blue, its like he gets paid for it. robsblubot 3,595
Top clubs willing to splash the cash for Luiz should be a all the evidence one needs to understand that he is one of the best CBs in the world. Just come up with a list of CBs who are valued 30m+ and you will notice how short the list actually is. Valuation of a player is not debatable as it does not represent individual preferences or opinions; it's the market talking. All defenders make mistakes especially positional ones! David is the CB who chases and pressurises the ball, which exposes him more to scrutinization. The other CB then has a much easier time and will look 'cool' and composed because of David's work. His high aggression and pace are obviously valued by other clubs and managers.Brazil are weak in 'D' because of the fullbacks who can't defend for their lives. That's why scolari has been employing 2 strong holding mids protecting the defense. Unfortunately, it won't work too well when the opponent can use the wings effectively. Fred is also a very limited striker IMO. Not to mention Julio Cesar, the GK, who is just past it. All in all, Brazil are only a good team with a couple of truly great players (Oscar and Neymar), who may be just too young to cut it at this level. haranr 485
He is a fucking traitor if he leaves us for a team like PSG! Money money money!!! If he wishes to go to another team he shall only leave to the bests like Barca! I will hate him anyways but less.
Amblève. 4,995
Naismith's goal for Everton in the last PL game last season?Cahill and Cole didn't cover themselves in glory that time either. Their lack of communication in that situation was probably one of the worst I've ever seen and resulted in Cahill tackling Ash, lol.
