Everybody says that Costa is the MOTM, but for me Luiz takes it and it's not even close. Yes Costa scored and got an assist, but first half he was invisible (not really his fault, but still) and at the beginning of 2nd half he was also frustrating including that chance he missed and the chance he conceded to Sane (scored shortly after though). But Luiz was the standout player from first minute to last, kept cleaning up Azpi's and Cahill's mess and he was the reason we didn't concede a hundred goals in 1st half. Not to mention he kept trolling Agüero to the point the little fuck couldn't take it anymore Take a bow son.

Think it's a foul, but never a red. Clearly Azpilicueta was in enough range to continue after so there's no last man back argument. Other way round we're probably saying foul to the mountains, play to whistle though!

Luiz is very fortunate because that was a potentially career ending 'tackle'. A 4 game ban isn't enough; there needs to be a stronger deterrent. You honestly think Costa would get a normal ban for a similar challenge? He would be banned for several months.

Totally agree. Costa can be quite annoying but I've never seen him try to hurt players intentionally, and yet he is the villain.

Thats a couple of games now mate hes been realy lucky this season.

Ive watched that so called foul Luiz apparently did on Aguero early on and IMHO Aguero did it himself. He knew that Luiz had the beating of him in a straight challenge so he leaned into him then dived off to his left so it made out Luiz barged him.

Now I think the ref agreed and instead of booking Aguero for the simulation he let it slide.

Now there were a few little niggles from Aguero against a few of our lads butr he kept coming off the worse till Aguero completely lost the fuckin plot and tried a flying scissors kick on him both studs up. Evil cunt.

I honestly dont think this 4 game ban is enough. (3 with the previos ban is 4 at least) I think the FA has gotta be on his case and fuck his season up. And I'm ashamed of Pep for having his back. What planet is he on? I hope at least behind closed doors he lets him have it.

Cause everone on the planet knows Diegos balls would be hanging up somewhere by now if he did it!

I couldn't be happier Luiz came back. I would happily give him the armband next season. But I cant help wishing he was 2 or 3 years younger

First half was best he's played for us in either spell, he stood up while Azpi, Cahill and Alonso crumbled. He wasn't as good in the second half but his first half display kept us in the game.

Just respect for his word after the match and how he handled the question about the tackle. He is a great person, that's why I love him to be in Chelsea.

Many Chelsea fans were questioning it also  For me it's still about Conte tactics. If we remember Liverpool or Arsenal games our defence was a joke. I think Azpi gives that extra protection with 3 at the back. But still I dont take anything away from Luiz, I've been impressed with him anyway.

I wouldnt say he was world class. His defending was always hot and cold. 

But I realy love his character. That mentality. When we sold Mata, I understood he lacks something, much like Cesc. But Luiz...sure it was money we couldnt turn away, and he wasnt exactly top player. But we lost great character, his determination to play for the club. He is one of the dying breed of players, much like Costa or Vidal etc who play with heart. 

I was happy when he returned in summer. I was filled with joy because of who he is. I had doubts that he will improve our back line, but I was still happy because I knew he will bring positive vibes to our squad.

Same for Costa, some hate him, but I love his character, who he is. He doesnt give two shits and does what he wants. 

He calmed down, Luiz improved his defending, so its a win win. 

We get results and at same time we have one of most charismatic squads in recent years (well if your Chelsea fan atleast).

I'm trying to think of a defender, now or before, as technical (or more) than Luiz is. I mean, not discussing other attributes, just his incredible technique which I find extremely odd for a CB.

I was so happy to get him back.  I love having a character like him in the squad.

By the time the window was closing, Conte had started to make this team really likeable, and not just in a blue-tinted glasses kind of way.  So, to add Luiz was just more icing on the cake.  Impossible to not like him.  And, if we were going to have some fun this year, Luiz will make the party even better.

All this talk about him being protected by Azpi and Cahill is absolute nonsense. He defends the most out of all three of them and he is also our best ball-playing defender, by far. People must have really underrated him if they still feel that way. I agree that he fits the Bonucci role like a glove but to essentially say that he is being carried by the other two defenders is completely wrong and dismissive of his outstanding capabilities as a defender.
