Roman Abramovich Thread

If he sells I think it’s still most likely to be an American buyer. American mega-billionaires will have seen how much the popularity of football has exploded here in America and want a piece of the pie. And as I mentioned a few days ago Chelsea is perhaps the best possible club someone can buy due to the size and stature of the club, the location, the popularity (and thus money making potential) and the fact that we’re set up to succeed for the foreseeable future without a major rebuild and massive initial investment into the playing squad.

Really the only downside for a prospective buyer is our small and aging stadium. But after the two traditional juggernauts in Liverpool and United, Chelsea is probably the most attractive club to want to own.

That is our only salvation. It would be my biggest wish - different board altogether. This current was setting us back  and all our recent success was despite them not because of them. They eventually find a way to sour every major success this team achieve. We would slip from top four with them soon enough.

Unfortunately , I can't see the end of this anti Russian hysteria.  IMO, It will be over when someone else takes control over oil, gas and mineral resources from these warring countries. It may take months and we may be out from every single competition.  Our woes are giant but even bigger woes are waiting ordinary people with sky prices of food, gas, oil and power this war will leave behind. In few years time Ukrainians will remember Maidan with the same grief as Libyans remember African spring. But that is different subject anyway.

Abramovich will be instructed to sell from his common sense. He has to. The only alternative is this charade  finishing soon enough.

We are not attractive to greedy owners who want to buy their golden cow. We are not big enough nor we have resources. If we get new owner he won't have profit in his mind. That's why it will be damn hard to find another.

BREAKING: Roman Abramovich will receive bids to buy Chelsea this week with parties believing that, for the first time, he will consider a sale.

Roman Abramovich has previously turned down offers worth £2.2 billion for Chelsea, while the club’s debt to him is £1.51bn which he would almost certainly expect to be covered. (Telegraph) #CFC

For the first time during his ownership, potential buyers believe he would be willing to sell the club.

Preventing the club being part of sanctions. Club being prepared for an eventual sale… #

Chelsea have previously insisted the club is not for sale, but the mood from the outside at least is changing and there is a feeling that Abramovich could be left with no other option, with his resolve to hang on to the club to be tested. (Telegraph)

Surely the 1.5bn would form part of the overall sale. There is absolutely no way someone is paying 2bn for a club that historically hasn't been making profits and take in a 1.5bn liability to be repaid too.

To be fair if Roman got somewhere around 2bn for the club he will be making 400-500m profit on something which for him has essentially been a hobby and enjoyment, he's done pretty damn well!

If this really is nearing the end it's been one hell of a wild ride and I wouldn't change any of it. Mistakes and unpopular decisions have been made at times but they all make the success that much sweeter and there has been far, far more good times than bad.

If we do get a new owner I just hope it's someone who is a football fan and understands the game as a whole. They will have some seriously big shoes to fill.

anti Russian hysteria

gaslighting

the Russians have invaded a sovereign nation and will end up slaughtering tens (maybe hundreds) of thousands of innocent people

just because we a have a Russian owner doesn't mean we excuse/ignore aggressive war (one of the major war crimes the Nazis and the Imperial Japanese leaders were convicted of post WWII) on a grand scale

How do they prove Roman connection? But I dont think they have to. If you are Russian you will have consequences because of Putin. This is how it works. You can be his best friend or hate him does not matter.

Maybe Spartak Moscow players hate Putin but they will not be able to play Europe League. Or any other Russian athlete in majority of sports. Regular citizen will also have much trouble in regular life because of this.

I guess they are trying to make Russian people turn against Putin so they elect someone else but lets see how this will end.

Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss has just given an interview saying he’s considering buying the club and has spoken directly to Roman.

This dude is nearly 90 years old and is “only” worth about $5B, or about a third of what Abramovich is worth. Sounds like a bad idea. How much could someone that old be truly invested emotionally in a football club? And will someone who isn’t a mega-billionaire afford to spend the money necessary to keep us competitive?

I’d like to hope that Roman, who is easily the most passionate owner in the league and who desperately wanted us to be the very best, would carefully select his successor. Someone who will take care of the club as well as he did.

I think we must stand firm. Roman has  been in the forefront of peace negotiations. He is greatly respected and with his influence in the Kremlin maybe he can bring peace to this disturbing situation.

His actions speak more than words as the western bias media fires cheap shots as he tries to the resolve conflict situation.

We are blessed to have such a generous , humanitarian and the world's best football owner ever

This reeks of hypocrisy and not towards you but in general. Of course it's sad what's happening in Ukraine but let's not pretend like the US didn't attack Irak, Afganistan or even Kosovo, didn't see any mass media propaganda like now to punish them as they doing now with Russia.

You speak very wisely . Unfortunately many have no greater understanding , of past , present or future.

It is easy to follow rhetoric as a sheep to your media but to think beyond is the greatest challenge.

I have RIPPED the US as well for ages, and you left out (amongst others going all the way back to Iran and Operation Ajax in 1953, the coup d'état of the democratically elected Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh) the most blatant US murder war (not the biggest but the most blatant):

Libya (which I can go on a hell of a rant over, it was outrageous how that went down, it was when I truly started to hate Hillary Clinton)

Plus Syria (where the US basically ended up arming ISIL in their mad rush to scupper Assad, their former uneasy ally)

I am the last person you can EVER accuse of hypocrisy on the issue of empiric wars

Bottom line, 2 wrongs do NOT make a right

Bullshit, 'Mother Russia' (your own words) Putin war crimes apologist.

What's up with that terrorist (documented above) Don Cossack patch on your profile, cleverclogs?

You trying to call ME a sheep is sheer (or should I say shear in this case) lunacy.

Go ahead, m8, justify Russia killing 5 year olds (and younger)
