Most teams in Europe play 4231 or 433 and Pellegrini sets City up to play 442, they're outnumbered in midfield and not to mention they have poor defensive organization and whoever is partnering Yaya Toure mostly has to do double the work due to a lack of awareness and laziness. Pellegrini will be gone next season, even if he wins a trophy this year because of the terrible European campaign they've had, so much was said about him being very good tactically but hes not that great. Mancini's team might not have been as open and didn't score as many goals but they had balance.

Could well happen. If Roma and CSKA draw in the next round, even if City lose to Bayern, all they need is to beat Roma in the final round and they'd have a 3 way tie at 5 points (assuming CSKA lose to Bayern in their final game) and City have by far the best GD so they would go through.

They could go through even after getting just 2 points from the first 5 matches!
