BleedsBlue 1,549
4th place finish looks very unlikely but our players must give their all now.Yes,it will be a disaster if we don't qualify for Champions league but then we all must be realistic and not optimistic.Life without Champions league will mean that top players will not choose to come here unless they are financially motivated and may as a result help Chelsea implement some youth talents.Players like Ryan,Josh and Lucas might get more chances in competitions like the Carling Cup and Europa League(that is if we qualify for that) so on a whole it will be surely be devastating to see Chelsea not play in the Champions League but still life will still go on.We as fans must stay united and hope for the arrival of an inspiring and motivating coach in the summer who hopefully will stay here for long. Its not that I think RDM is not good enough for Chelsea or anything but in all serious seriousness the chances of him getting appointed on a permanent basis is quite slim. capriccioso 2,545
I haven't given up yet, there's still a small part of me that deep down believes we can still do it. This is where di Matteo needs to show he's good enough to manage a top club, he's got to motivate the players far more than we, the fans are. He's got to make them believe 100% that anything is possible. That's all this squad really needs in the short run. A good kick up the arse and a few fighting words. HNKS 508
As much as it hurts to say. I dont think we will make 4th. Unless Tottenham really mess up and we beat Arsenal away.....highly unlikely.

capriccioso 2,545
Or we could take the easy way and win the Champions League and get the added benefit of booting Spurs out of the Champions League.
Krypt 241
Or we could take the easy way and win the Champions League and get the added benefit of booting Spurs out of the Champions League.Surely the easy way would have been betaing teams like WBA , Villa and not loosing a 3 goal lead against united and generally not playing like a bunch a muppets for half the season... just a thought. nullabletype 987
5th place and a stint in the Europa League is perhaps the exact kick up the arse this club needs.
Jase 43,479
A 5th place finish might not even be a guaranteed one with Newcastle doing reasonably well at the moment.

Its simple and uncomplicated and doesn't rely on other results going our way.

Let alone beating Benfica
capriccioso 2,545
I found it to be less complicated, all we have to do is win, right? Possibly I'm just a lazy idiot who couldn't be bothered looking at fixture lists and projecting scores, points and goal differences where there are too many variables. Laylabelle 9,539
We need to win all our fixtures and hope somewhere along the way Spurs drop 6 points to put us aheadWhich even if they do with the games we have coming up I cant see us not dropping any
BlueLion. 21,491
I just can't see it happening. We have to face two direct rivals away from home (and we won't win either), and it will be tough going to beat Newcastle.

Unless something miraculous happens sooner rather than later! My 'fear' is that we somehow pull it out the bag and end up with the same players this time next season. We need a squad overhaul and no message hits home sooner than a lack of UCL football. Plus I don't think we'd do too badly in the Europa League - we'd probably actually go on and win it. Mceachran 109
anyone else feel we have a better chance winning the champions league this season than qualifying for it next season?
