If you're going to compare them, do it on individual merits. Imo, Gerrard's a better all-round player and I'd probably put him in most my fantasy squads over Lampard. Still love Lampard though.

It wasn't only because of Torres signing, but more to the fact he played as a Second Striker.

The best team Gerrard has been on was the 08/09 team, and you could argue that Xabi Alonso was their best midfielder.

Lampard is clearly better, more goals and assists, Lampard has played with world class players in a better team and has still been the main guy in the team, Gerrard has played with many average players in mediocre Liverpools teams, so its easy for him to stand out, Lamps has only ever played with top quality players and has always stood out. Lampard has scored more goals from midfield than some of the PL greatest strikers such as Les Ferdinand, Michael Owen, Teddy Sheringham, Dwight Yorke, JFH ect he has got more assist then the likes of Gerrard, Scholes, Fabregas, Bergkamp, Henry ect Lampard is just another level to Gerrard.
