What will sacking AVB actually achieve?

You have to see further than your nose... We only be able to draw conclusions when the honeymoon will stop.

This is my main concern. When the honeymoon is over and father time once again starts to rear his ugly head around our most vital senior players, what will the way forward be, and who is the one to lead us? I'm all for enjoying the moment, but I'm not so myopic as to think that our problems have been solved now that AVB is gone and we've gotten some good-fantastic (yesterday being fantastic) results.

Henrique is right. I liked AVB, but his firing means we at least have a chance to end this season on a high.

Just have to hope whoever the manager is in the summer, knows better than to put his faith in them and not sign any players.

André Villas-Boas was forced to put faith in the players he had. The board failed miserably this summer with negociations. He had no choice.

You're probably right, but what about the January window? he had one more chance to fix things.

Yeah, but he isn't faultless. See how these players perform and win matches under a different manager ? You simply cannot lose the dressing room and trust from the players.

Yeah. I'll wait to see how the players react when they will have a tough time against a non-glamourous team. For now it is easy for them to be motivated, there's a new coach and they have a point to prove.

André was there to have a long term impact. Hazard didn't want to move and Lille didn't want to sell, the same thing is also true for Lucas' case, while Willian was too expensive. So there were no points in doing a panic buy. Plus I feel like the board was useless as usual, Roman knows the Shakthar owner and I believe with clever negociators we could have make this deal happen. I wanted him to sign Sergi Roberto from Barça, but can you imagine the commotion among Chelsea fans if it were to happen ? And look at what happened with Cahill. Despite the fact Cahill wanted to leave Bolton and the fact Bolton wanted to sell him, it took us more than two weeks to sign him, and we had to overpay him (fees and wage) to make the deal happen.

A bad mood an unwillingness can ruin the biggest projects.

This topic was full of bullshit. Changes are needed in the summer, and the result does not change that, but AVB wasnt a pivotal character to do so, as the guy was suggesting.

Getting rid of AVB was the first thing before making the changes.

AVB was an awful manager and he deserved the sack, its more easy to accept you people supporting the stupid portuguese were wrong.
