GC's former manager was just talking on Sky about his time at Bolton. He said Man City had bid 17 million and some player for GC the season before. Chelsea got him for £6 million. He agreed to join us but still asked if he could play for Bolton one more time. I think he said it was at Everton and gary scored the winner. You've got to admire him for that.

Koscielny is one level up from Cahill I think. A lot more comfortable on the ball and a lot more proactive too. Faster as well.

Isnt Koscielny the guy who conceded most penalties in pl since 2010?

He is good CB, but his timing is off time and time again.

That's only because of the reckless system Arsenal play, their CBs are exposed all the time and Koscielny is forced to make these sort of challenges in the box all the time. When he has Mertesacker as a partner as well who practically has no pace, he has to cover that up most times by being the cover defender and that usually means he's the one making last ditch tackles. As said before, due to the volume and amount of times they both get exposed, it's kind of inevitable.

Koscielny would be much better here at CFC under Jose, he's better than Cahill in almost everything for me.

Yup, that's another player who would do very well in our system... not talking of Koscielny (who is indeed very good), but Mertesacker. His lack of pace wouldn't be much of a problem in our low block, though he does lack a bit of upper body strength to become truly dominant in the air.

Incidentally, while I also agree that Cahill lacks in the technique (especially) and pace departments, he is a powerful player (upper body strength too) which we all know, is very important in the EPL - though not so much in Europe.

Kos is argubly the best CB in the EPL and under Jose and in Chelsea, he would sky rocket in status in the world...

Knee jerk reaction from the guy above me.

But I been saying this for some time:

I think he's the weak link in our defense.

Guy ain't that good.

So we will have a problem when Terry gone because he ain't world class.

So yes cahill continues to remain our weak link but if we lose today it will not be totally his fault.

We was a bit rusty today, the whole team.

The only thing I can say in his defense is that he's played far too many mins for club and country this season and it shows. No player has played more mins for Chelsea this season. He's looked out of sorts in the last few games and should have been rotated more.
