A Chelsea player for a little over four months, Gary Cahill is reflecting on his acquisition of two winner's medals already, a far cry from the relegation battle he exchanged for Stamford Bridge in January.

The 26-year-old was enduring a tough season at Bolton Wanderers before joining us during the winter transfer window, but had to be patient before making his debut against Manchester United in early February, gradually imposing himself and forcing his way into the side. Injury against Barcelona in the semi-final second leg looked as though it could rob him of a place in the Champions League Final, but the Chelsea medical staff worked hard on him, and fellow fitness doubt David Luiz, to get them fit for Munich where they put in a sterling shift to help us to our first ever European Cup.

Cahil is a total bawse. He came in to this Chelsea side and fit like a glove. He blocked so many shot I can't even count, throwing his body on the line at every opportunity. And to see him continue playing at a high level in the final even after obviously re-aggravating his hamstring injury is how heroes are born.

David Luiz was getting heralded as a messiah this time last year, error at Old Trafford that all changed. It will be interesting to see the change in mindset when Cahill makes an error.

Yes he has been a very very good signing, but there are so many premature comments here.

Forgive us  The man is an absolute hero (along with David Luiz), both starting CBs in our legendary CL win, both nursing hamstring injuries, both lasting 120 minutes (unbelievably). And both playing very well.

Both are forever immortalized in the history of our club.

The only people it made a difference to were the fickle muppets. Nothing actually changed with DLs mistakes, it's just a bunch of internet loose cannons had something new to moan about. Anybody with half a brain knows better than to pass judgement over one mistake. Similarly there will be people who moan about Cahill should he make any errors, but these people shouldn't be listened to as they change their minds as often as the weather.

I knew it would have came out wrong  I don't doubt that he was a hero in Munich.

When i meant by premature are the comparison's with Terry at his peak, maybe in a couple of years yes but at the moment we should let him grow into his role at the club.

I don't doubt he has been a great signing for us, the transfer and the price was a masterstroke.
