Jase 43,479
Kinda funny that Cahill played only ONE game at the World Cup after talking so much about winning his place back in the starting XI last season to ensure he got selected. Didn't even contribute to anything meaningful in the end.
Eidur the Spider 4,515
Chelsea captain Gary Cahill is considering bringing his six-year career at Stamford Bridge to an end this month as the club close in on a £44.2m deal for Daniele Rugani. #CFC #Juventus (Standard)

Pizy 18,909
Best for all parties if he goes. Not good enough for the top level but good enough to go to a decent midtable side. He can do what Johnny Evans did where he leaves a big club and establishes himself as a solid piece for a lesser club. Azpi as new captain. 11Drogba
Magic Lamps 11,692
Would be sad to see him leave. Not exactly a legend of the club but put in some great performances when it mattered most esp in the cl final 2012, the el final 2013, the whole 2014/15 season he was flawless. Then again in our recent fa cup final he was absolutely sublime in the mid cb position. But i guess he is bow too Immobile to play Sarrid high line in a 4 man defence so I understand if he night wnat to go and play first team football. Popular Post! Superblue 6,372 Posted July 17, 2018 Popular Post! Share Posted July 17, 2018 You can't knock what he's done at the club on the grand scheme of things. He's played a big role in two league title winning seasons and also won as a starter in the league cup, fa cup, europa league and champions league. He certainly has limitations but he's made the most of his career here and at £7m he has proven to be a hugely successful piece of business by the club, and a bargain. He is definitely in the decline now though, and as people have said it would be best for both parties for him to leave. He gets a fresh start and can play week in week out at a midtable team in the latter stages of his career, with nothing left to prove, and we can move on and look to upgrade on him. OneMoSalah 8,886
Think if he was up for it, he'd be a decent rotation option still but Christensen, Rudiger, Rugani if he comes in have to be considered ahead of him in the pecking order. Hes not exactly brilliant but with talk of Luiz going to Napoli, I think it would be better to perhaps keep a more experienced head around in case he was needed or even to play smaller games/cup games. In all fairness if he decided to leave looking back at his time here he has been a huge success, considering he came into arguably one of the worst Chelsea teams in the last 10 years. Like Azpi, only cost £7m, fair enough Azpi is different gravy but for an English player at the level he was, it was a pretty good deal. I'd assume Zouma will be sold on as well. Strike 7,489
Only thinking about the Home Grown quota. This means we are down to Moses, Danny (likely to be sold), Barkley, Fabregas, Loftus Cheek and Christensen. Think the club must sign a Home Grown player if both Danny and Gary are leaving. Wilfried Zaha? I can't think of anyone else who would improve the quality of the squad.

Signing a HG third GK would be a wise idea

ulsterchelsea 3,221
Gary is talking about leaving... I've always stuck up for him, thought he was a good solid move when he signed, think he's been solid for the most part, think contes system didn't suit him the best and he for found out a bit and also reckon JT also massively coached/led him. If he now wants to go however then thanks big man but all the best....go on a free if you want, don't honestly believe there's a place here now for him. Always be remembered fondly but if JT, Frankie and the boys can be cast aside then he surely can.
bluephoenix 1,131
Loyalty seems like a thing of the past... the current generation need to look that up in the dictionary. But can't blame them either we are in a competitive and opportunistic world. The player doesn't think once about the club, manager, fans and the same can be said for each of the other entities too. I dont think Gazza was completely taken to by the supporters. Probably accepted much more when JT was here tho. Since then I think hes tried too hard to be captain courageous. It doesn't sit well taking the captains armband off Dave coming in as sub like that. He could have led just as well without it if he had the teams trust. And the way I look at players since Lamps left is totally different. MOST just see clubs as another job. Change jobs, wear a different suit to work, new boss and workmates. Just like the rest of us change jobs. Keep some mates at old job but do your best for new boss. The days wgere peeps enter one job from school and stay there till retirement has gone. And happens very rarely in football. Thats why when it does they become legends I dont mind where peeps go as long as we dont strengthen our opponents and we have an upgrade or decent replacement before they go. Gazzas lost what is needed under Sarri - time to say good bye Vesper

It's too many, some players will hardly play, the academy players will get even less chances then they already do, etc. A squad of about 18-19 players + 3 keepers is sufficient. Remember the likes of Hudson-Odoi, Ampadu, etc on the fringes of the first team aren't included in this number and will therefore fill out the squad.
