MHL 47 378
There was an article by Tony Banks for the Daily Express that Supa Frank was moving closer to sign a new deal. I hope this isn't just some speculation to sell papers.I don't generally read the newspapers, they're full of red or claret and blue loving sports/football editors who can't get past their own only too obviously biased views. I do think the one thing the Chelsea FC board do well is keep contract and transfer business quiet, until its very, very close to being a done deal, hence why I'm hopeful something is close to being sorted with SFL's contract. If I'm in ultra positive mode, maybe a new deal for Frank might also mean that a return of the modern day king of Stamford Bridge might also be in the offing? I am sold w/ that idea!!! I look at it like this. Zola is like Socrates, Supa Frank is like Plato. So does that mean Mata will be our Aristotle? No, what I was inferring was that it was no secret that Jose greatly, greatly admired Frank and perhaps if JM or his representatives have been talking to us, then they may have indicated that keeping Frank was very important.Although relatively new to us Mata is just simply sublime, he's been far better this season than last for me, and last season wasn't too shabby! The brilliance of Mata's performances this season thus far maybe being watered down in the eyes of some by the 'troubled' times we've had. If there's one player you should try and get to watch live it's Juan, it'll be worth the airfare, trust me.
Steve 10,227
Terry tells Chelsea board Lampard has more to give:JOHN Terry has sent a stark message out to Chelsea's board that now is not the time to let Frank Lampard go. The Blues captain is insistent that his long-standing team-mate still has much more to give, and says that he doesn't even want to entertain the thought of the midfielder running out in somebody else's colours. Lampard is in the midst of a highly-publicised contract stand-off with Chelsea, which is expected to see him leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. On Sunday he netted his 199th goal for the Blues, just three shy of the club's all-time scoring record, and Terry says now is not the time to write off the England man. “He’s got so much more to give and he’s an inspiration for everyone at this football club at his age as well,” said Terry. “He’s the best trainer by a million miles – he works so hard. For him to get that many goals, kids can look at that and say he’s in the right position. “Believe me, it’s a lot of hard work before and after training and working on his strengths and weaknesses. He’s been an inspiration for everyone at this football club. “He’s always been fit and that’s despite the hard work he puts in before and after training. “We hope that he’s here (next season) and, if not, he’s got years ahead. I’m not going to entertain the thought of him elsewhere as I don’t want to think about it." xPetrCechx

BlueLion. 21,491
All Lampard can do is score goals is the most cringeworthy stament I've ever fucking heardThere are worse things that can be said of a footballer. For instance, when you're talking about Arsenal's midfield, one can say: 'they do nothing except insist on passing a further ten times instead of having a shot on goal from ten yards'. SinineUltra 1,170
He is still a great asset to the team but we miss his assists the most. Slowly but surely he is losing his influence on the pitch. He can be very useful as an impact sub but at the moment - due to the lack of options we have had recently- he has played week in week out for a long period of time and that has shown us that he is an AMF not a double pivot minded player. I think we shouldn't renew a contract for the sake of him being a legend and dishing out an odd 150k a week for sentimentalism. That's of course if he isn't part of the new managers plans. Another factor is that veteran players boast too much of an influence in the team and in a distant manner have a say in the new manager and its success. That's something that really has bothered me when we think back at Scolari, AVB etc. manpe
Amblève. 4,995
Dear Frank, PLEASE score your 200th goal on Thursday! I was there when we beat Levski Sofia 3-0 in 2001 when he scored his first goal for the club, I saw his 100th against Huddersfield and it would be an honour to see his 200th as well! Chelsea FC @chelseafcBenitez confirms that Lamps will not be in the squad tomorrow. #CFCI feel sorry for you, Alex.

Magic Lamps 11,692
So maybe his 200th goal can be an important one which probably would not have been the case if he featured against Sparta cos he most probably would have scored. MetsajCFC 1,255
Good decision to rest players. With all the respect to Sparta Prague, we should be able to beat them while playing with rotated squad, especially if we're playing at home. No excuses. Got to stay sharp for sunday's game against City
3sphinx 18
Lamps breaking the record would probably the best thing this season, if it does happen. Wouldn't put it past him to go big against City.

The one time he rests him, (considering we have wanted that to happen for a while) is the time you want him to play.
