milka 3,407
Chelsea fans are so used to instant success that it’s impossible for a manager to build a team at Chelsea. Lampard was brought in for the long term project & not for overnight success & just to be sacked. Did Klopp produce his PL & UCL winning Liverpool overnight? No. Back him. killer1257
Fernando 6,723
I thought it was good. We need to improve defense first and he is doing that the last two games. Fulham Broadway, kellzfresh and killer1257

Yeah but our attacking play was sacrificed for it. 0.4 and 0.21 xG against Sevilla and Man United say it all. All good playing defensively against those 2 to get a point but can we maintain the balance - good offensively and defensively - against the lesser teams? The next 6 games will tell us a lot. kellzfresh and Fernando

Special Juan 28,730
Two 0-0's in a row, bet Frank is fucking buzzing, and wrongly so. Two average performances and toothless with it. kellzfresh, Supermonkey92 and 0007
whats happening 1,660
for me it's funny how some people are happy with two 0-0 draws like thats an improvement after those 3-3 and 4-1 4-0 and such games. why cant we have both sides of the coin. it's like its an unrealistic expectation, and we should be happy with what we have. like we are fucking palace or something. Supermonkey92 1,428
Lets bring up the mourinho and conte games then and see if we were as piss poor in attack in them too. CL knockout and massive title deciding games aside, jose parked the bus but never looked to draw. You wanna see the tactical masterclass? Conte vs barca at the bridge. Sat back, have them possession but should have won 3-0. Willian should have scored twice as should have hazard. We made chances, we were urgent when space opened up. Krasandor, Burnley and SHU there's no excuse for anything other than 9 points (unless we get denied by a keeper masterclass) and if we're still looking shaky attacking then questions will be asked and rightly so. In cant remember the United match. The city matches are good counterexamples but that's because they were CLEARLY better. Yaya, silva, Aguero all in their prime. Superblue 6,372
I'd rather Lampard get the defensive base and organisation sorted out now early in the season then it remaining a huge issue for us all season. People need some patience with this. Lampard is finally starting to show some tactical discipline and shape to our game that fans have been crying out for the last year. It's obviously affected our attack over the past two games and we need to find the right balance but I firmly believe this base is better to build from than the base we were showing in the earlier weeks (i.e. full of goals but looking like conceding just as many). Nobody is pulling away at present in the league, and if we can get these points to our game right it'll stand us in good stead throughout the season. We are much more likely to be able to grind some results out through the season 1-0 than we are winning 4-3 in a game of pinball. And the way this season is progressing that could seriously put us in a position to be able to mount a title challenge this year. killer1257, kellzfresh and Fernando

TBH, I would wait and see the next few games and results before we start proclaiming about any sort of progression under Lampard based on the last 2 games. Our main problem has been having the right balance between defence and attack without sacrificing one or the other. All fine playing defensively against Sevilla and Man United but it also meant we posed next to no threat whatsoever against them (0.4 and 0.21 xG against Sevilla and Man United respectively). The upcoming games against Krasnodar, Burnley, Rennes, Sheffield United, Newcastle and Rennes again will tell us more because I don't think any of us are going to accept similar defensive setup/approach in those games. Supermonkey92 1,428
Still doesn't necessarily Mourinho's over cautious approach in those kind of games. Why not? The chance of winning was small and his overly defensive approach would keep city at the same points difference.
