I think Tomori might come good with Rudgier. I would prefer to push more Tomori then Christensen. Andreas is better for 3r CB or he can be sold next summer and get another CB. Ruben in mid? I'm not sure, where does Pulisic land? To me Pulisic also has good potential, just that is first season in England. For now it will continue to be Kante, Jorginho and Kovaic in mid. Superblue 6,372
Above all else this season, the biggest positive for me personally from Lampard's appointment is how much more I'm enjoying this season. The last two seasons have been a real hard watch. Conte seemed to pretty much give up and our performances reflected that, and whilst I appreciate the changes Sarri was trying to incorporate (and I actually think some areas Lamps has benefited from Sarri's work) a lot of the football was so boring and pedestrian. I'm not sure if it is simply having Lamps back, integrating the younger players, more attack minded football, lower expectations for the season or a mixture of all but I'm enjoying watching the games. Yes there are clearly some issues which need to be addressed and consistency I think throughout this season could prove a problem, but I'm just really enjoying the ride so far. Our priority this season should be to try scoring more than opponent. Get that attacking chemistry going, make sure everyone gets involved, build up the team work and develop players. Our young players to enjoy and play as relaxed as possible. Then we fix our defence come summer and next season. This is what rebuild looks like and how it should be done going from pragmatic/defensive to attacking football. Sarri last year was simply a doll to play fancy football but with instantly many many restictions and expectations that cant be achieved nor demanded in transition seasons. Now we have no pressure, just a manger and bunch of young players enjoying, experimenting and developing every week. 1905didierblue, kellzfresh, Johnnyeye and 1 other
Popular Post! Bosnian Blue 2,471 Posted September 15, 2019 Popular Post! Share Posted September 15, 2019 Defending set-pieces must improve. It takes time to build a system, it takes time for players to understand how to defend and press as a unit, that I understand but defending set-pieces is one of the basic things in footba. We can't afford to have that as our weakness being already sometimes open and shaky in open play. I don't know who is insisting on zonal marking, whether its Frank, Jody or someone else but this is quite clearly not working. We've conceded twice from corner-kicks in the league, Norwich hit the post, against Liverpool in the Super Cup we also had major issues. They need to reshape it, maybe mix zonal with man-marking, because its leading to too many easy headers. Anyways we can't keep defending set-pieces like this, its going to cost us alot. manpe, Johnnyeye, Atomiswave and 3 others

Zouma is this season's Alonso (when Alonso is played at left back, as he is quite a good left wingback, his only effective position, as he showed yesterday). Unfortunately Willian is still last season's Willian. Zouma (minus the players we could not buy) is most disastrous effect of the bans, as we could have gotten £40m or so quid for him from the spendthrift and desperate Toffees this summer. He frustrates me every bit as much as Alonso did for the first 2/3rds or so of the season last year. He is NEVER going to be Chels quality. He is so poor on the ball and now has added consistently bad positional play to his repertoire, which unbalances our entire defensive scheme. Tomo 21,751
I think we have actually improved a fair bit defensively these last few games despite the fact we've still been conceding a lot. Pre season alongside United and Leicester were total horror shows defensively and we looked like conceding every time the ball entered our half (that's why I couldn't take Madison's MOTM seriously, we gave him the an unlocked door in the second half and he still couldn't find his way through us) however recently I think while we're still a long way off what a title winning defense should look like we have been very unlucky to have been conceding two a game still. Norwich and Wolves created fuck all but were clinical when they did breach us while Sheffield did a bit more we did completely nullify their attack for all bar one moment in the first half. Still a long way to go but we have made a positive baby step defensively in the last few weeks despite it not looking so on the scoreboard. I think that Zouma, Azpi and Alonso are just not good enough. Alonso looked horrible when we conceded the second goal. Azpi and Zouma cost us a lot of points this season already and Alonso was horrible against Traore. At least, Tomori could handle Traore. We will improve massively when Kante, James and Emerson are fully fit. Vesper and 1905didierblue

We need kante to be fit and ready. Our problem is dealing with player who play between the line the like of Madison, Cantwell, and firmino. communicate 2,703
This has been far more enjoyable team to watch than last season. Fun too watch, very chaotic. We probably will lose tons of games this season but as long as we are not in relegation zone I have no problem. Keep playing youth and start mixing and matching player to understand their best role. But like I said before. It is very important to have a plan for the future on how to build this team into a tittle winner othewise fun to watch but win nothing is not what I want. When I saw the line up I thought it would be Christensen in midfield, but it was indeed three at the back. My point though is - Lampard chose to go three at the back with Rudiger, which was the normal choice, Tomori and Christensen. Well the debate for me was between Christensen and Zouma because of the NT break. Christensen travelled all around Europe to play the full 90 min v Gibraltar and Georgia, whereas Zouma was in France and did not play a single minute for France's two matches in Paris. Was clearly fresher than Christensen, but Lamps went for the Dane. Pretty much this confirms me Zouma is now the last in the pecking order. Which is fair. He genuinely looks like a likeable dude, but simply not good enough for clubs like Chelsea. NikkiCFC
