Blues Forever 1,232
Lyon is trying to bring back Umtiti. This has been under consideration for several weeks, and has been initiated in last hours by the leaders of Lyon.
Blues Forever 1,232
Bayern have offered to raise David Alaba's wages to just under £290,000 per week, bonuses included, in a 4 year deal. The player's camp are pushing for a salary closer to £400,000 a week for 5 years. Bayern are both unwilling & unable to go beyond their offer. The biggest factor is money, internal calculations point to a coronavirus-related loss of revenue of €100-150m in the calendar year depending on the extent of stadium restrictions and knock-on effects on sponsorships. Bayern are aware that putting Alaba in or near the Lewandowski/Neuer bracket would result in strong pressure inside the dressing room with the likes of Serge Gnabry and Joshua Kimmich demanding improved deals. The club feel they are in a strong enough position because unlike in the case of Thiago, there's no other club willing or able to meet Alaba's demands and pay a transfer fee this summer. Zahavi has offered the player to clubs in Spain, Alaba's preferred destination if he cannot stay in Munich, but Barcelona or Real Madrid are both out as far as big transfers are concerned. A number of Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester City, have made loose inquiries this summer but Alaba has shown himself categorically disinterested in a move to England. Bayern have a suspicion that Zahavi might be deliberately quoting sums that the club can't meet in an effort to stall and run down Alaba's contract. Representing the player as a free agent would put him and Alaba's father in a position to conclude an even more lucrative deal. If Alaba won't agree a new deal, Bayern are increasingly minded to keep him for one more year & then see him leave. They have plenty of depth in the centre-back positions. Alaba's wages can instead be spent on another high class addition in a more pressing position.

R2D2 368
If only we had won the FA cup final, they would be broke, we've let them back in the game.

Winning the FA Cup really didn't make much of a difference from a financial POV. Arsenal got only £3.6 million from winning it last season and let's not forget, we're talking about a club that also cut 55 jobs to save some extra/little money. Pizy 19,381
Have to say that I'm surprised how much money is being spent this summer by our rivals. I figured Spuds and Arse in particular would stagnate this summer and barely be able to strengthen. But both are going big. If Spuds get a striker and Skriniar to add to Bale, Reguilon, and Doherty they'll have a very strong side. If Arse add Auoar to Willian and Gabriel they'll have done very well too. Shockingly, the side I thought would challenge us for most spent is dead quiet. I figured United would go crazy just like we have. That moron Ed Woodward will probably panic at the last minute and bid for Sancho.
Special Juan 28,871
Sancho is so not the signing they need at all. They need a quality CB desperately and they need a LB bigbluewillie

Yes but they qualified for EL which was a major boost for them. Even Mourinho celebrated the EL place last season. OhForAGreavsie

Somehow they haven't addressed any squad problems like their defence, Sancho and De Gea vs. Henderson.
