Yes he was great, he was one of my favourite players it's very sad but come on guys, slightest bit of trouble he is off. I've known many a player who dealt with being benched with much better dignity.

He didn't want to fight, to work to try and change Jose's mind like Luiz and Azpi have.

its just funny how you blame it on Mata and saying he didnt try. of course he tried. you cant change a player 180 degree. you cant make cech a striker and you cant make Mata a pacey guy, who recovers possesion and puts pressure on opposition players. you cant make him fast as Ronaldo or Willian etc. He didnt fit in Mous system since the first second and Mou knew it as it seems. he tried to integrate him, but it didnt work out. futhermore he played him as a RW, where he isnt at his best anyways.

And how the hell could he stay on and fight for his place, where there is no chance to get into it? as i said, he wont change the way he plays and he wont get faster or more dynamic suddenly. I can understand your frustration but blaming it on Mata is just deluded.

oh yeah and wanting to play in a WC is surely no reason to join another club in january. especially a World Cup in Brazil.

Wishing Mata the best for his future would be indirectly wishing united to do well, anyways i'm grateful for what he has done here and hence a big 'thank you Mata' from me.

As for us we don't have too many who can take good free kicks (Lampard will be featuring less and less in the future and Luiz is hardly consistent ); there were times when we had Drogba, Ballack, Lampard and sometimes Alex lining up to take free kicks and scaring the shit out of the opposition goalkeeper.
