The players are what they are. The problem is the decision-making of the people who sign them.

For a while now The Bridge has been turning against Rom. That process is moving all too quickly towards its conclusion. His name was not chanted once today and the groans were very, very clear every time something went wrong for him. No booing yet but I think it's coming soon. Not least because of the way he moans at his teammates when he doesn't think they've played the ball he wanted. Add a ponderous, lumbering display today and a move which, up to now, would have to be labelled "unsuccessful so far", may soon have to be accepted as disastrous.

Oh well we're through, we won. Still feels a bit flat though, although Plymouth with 5 across at the back made it hard work

Embarrassing was the word I used at the end of the game. The quality difference should have been stark and clear but it wasn't.

Called him Kepa II the days before he even signed but he is far worse signing than Kepa. I disrespected Kepa. He at least was moveable from the starting line up if not from the wage bill and the club. This one can't be moved even from the line up let alone wage bill and the club. I really hope bridge crowd will show their discontent, even though it's bad for the club it may be good for the team.

He will probably cost us the Club world cup, if he starts. We would have lost Uefa Super Cup with him up front. We would have never won CL with him upfront. And we will win nothing with him upfront. My two cents.

When will we move him? When we loan him out  paying big share of his wages.

But that doesn't even matter. What matter is, will those who paid record fee for him on top  with record wages leave too.  And be replaced with more knowable football experts.  If not , we are entering new, midtable era.

It was never about Romelu Lukaku. There were writings on the wall that everyone bar handful of Lukaku fans could easily see.

It was always about ignorance and incompetence of those who failed to see these signs and have signed him.

Tuchel wasn't here 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and we still were linked. Wishfull thinking it was Tuchel.

5 games on the trot he’s played a full 90. Now 120 minutes today and still nothing.

Not exactly. He's started the last 7 games in all competitions and completed the full 90 in 5 of those games (he was taken off at HT for a rest against Chesterfield in one of the other 2 games).

It's no secret that the club make the call on signings and while I don't know if Tuchel would have been able to persuade them to do otherwise, it's worth noting that Tuchel himself also went along with the Lukaku signing (he mentioned he spoke with Tuchel before joining). So, Tuchel isn't exactly innocent here.

Lukaku is overweight, sluggish, slow AF (almost no burst speed lately), beyond wuthless on defence/pressing, disinterested, and throws a strop far too often. He never should have been purchased.

A right fucking proper £180m (fees + 5 years average salary in toto) nightmare.

I will have to someday go back and re-calculate the grand totals (as some that I was calculating reduced sales for will and have left on frees/vastly reduced (from even my lowball tallies) amounts, plus potential losses on frees for big guns like AC and Rudiger, etc), but we are now damn near approaching 2/3rds to 3/4ers of a BILLION quid tossed away, starting in 2016/2017, in poor buys, bad sales, refused sales, refused buys (where we may pay vast amounts more or will never, near to medium term get the players in and thus have to settle), and cocked up contractual management.

Serious amounts of shit-away dosh. Combine that with monies lost due to Covid, and the numbers are coming up on 1 billion pounds sterling.

PLUS no new stadium, and thus at least £50-75 million lost per anum in future forward revenue projections, not to mention the loss of physical plant-enabled pulling power in the transfer market that comes along with us being the only top 25 or so club in Europe with either no new (or vastly expanded/renovated) stadium either already being used or coming online in the near to medium term future.

And yet no heads have rolled.
