neel 257
So this is first to buy option for barca. Chelsea should sign a new contract with romeu with 1 million pound clause
True_Blue 469
So our club management was made idiotic by the media.I was surprised when they said that Barcelona could get him when they want him back,so we would give him expirience make him a good player then he goes back? In your fucking dreams Daily Fail.
Hd123 5
Great news, he has been nothing short of fantastic. I disagree with AVB about the transfers (though I doubt he will be honest about who he needs or who he will go for)1) Essien is not the type of player we require in central midfield, and there is absolutely no guarantee he will be as good as before, let alone a prime Essien.2) With Alex leaving we are dangerously short on squad depth at centreback. Should bosingwa go too, and he should, we would be one injury away from total collapse at the back. Maybe not Cahill, but should Alex and/or Bosingwa leave, we will need a new defender.3) Regarding Cole, he has been one of the worst performers under AVB. I know Perreira is too expensive, but if AVB feels that we need him, we should get him. The best alternative would be to give Bertrand some games against weaker opponents and then see if he can up his game.

I really can't see what all the fuss is about with that fella!
Kostas 1,468
Very glad we can put the whole "Barcelona will steal him back" joke to rest. Maybe we'll finally begin evaluating his actual current ability without being affected by external factors such as this one.As a matter of fact, I finally noticed after the Newcastle and Valencia games how/why he can be of more use than Mikel when it comes to defending. The amount of tackles he makes and 50-50s he wins due to his speed and his persistence win us the ball more often and more importantly much quicker than Mikel's interceptions. Term-X and Sheva.

Ryan Bertrand has shown fantastically good levels of understanding in the team and talent and Ashley Cole is continuing to perform fantastically well." Hysteria 159
Excellent news! I think Romeu will be come a very important piece in our team.

AVB in the same interview where he clarified Romeu's buy-out clause....I know, but AVB wouldn't just come out and say that he wants X player because player Y is not performing. Cole has been really, really poor and if his form continues for a long period of time, we might need to seek a replacement. Or promote Bertrand to first choice. Hd123 5
That is indeed very good news, but I think we are all forgetting the will of the player here. If barca came knocking and Oriol wants to go back I don't think the club will force him to stay, we are not Arsenal. We all hate Arsenal but they did sell the players who wanted to leave (albeit later). If his hearts not here in a few years, I just hope we get the fee that his performance warrants.
Tomo 21,751
Right now we are slowly building a great team under AVB, in a couple of years we will be on the verge of completing the jigsaw while Barca will be slowly declining (IMHO they peaked last season) it won't make sense for him to go back then.He will stay until at the very least he has a premierleague and FA Cup winners medal round his neck.If he does decide to go a few years down the line we should then demand £30-40m + Barca's best upcoming DM. The Big Drog 1,110
Sorry but I don't understand where the criticism of Cole has come from. Has he had a couple of bad games this season? Yes. Did he have a few bad games last season? Yes. Did he have a few bad games the season before that? Yes. Every player does. For the most part though Cole has been one of our most consistent performers and has generally played quite well.
Henrique 9,133
I always knew it, our club is not fool enough to buy a young player letting another team getting him back when they wish.

Rambo 1,729
He's settling in nice in the premier league and the trust AVB instills in him is a good sign of his future with the club.

_Lukaku_ 13
This lad is such a will be world class player if you know what I mean. His confidence, belief, calmness, motivation are to be admired. Thankfully we didn't loan and develop him only for Barcelona to buy him. Also, you would hope he knows the word loyalty and seeing we've given him the chance to start and show what he's got he should stay a good while. Tomo 21,751
The SECOND he makes a mistake all this will be forgotten and their will be calls to play him further up the field
The Big Drog 1,110
The SECOND he makes a mistake all this will be forgotten and their will be calls to play him further up the field I don't think there will, he is a natural holding midfield player and unlike another Chelsea holding midfielder that we could name, he is actually effective defensively.
