Thibaut Courtois

1. Courtois is one of the biggest reason why his side was one of the best defensive sides in the world.

2. There is a difference between being the best defensive side and the most defensive side. Simeone's Atletico parked the bus against every team in every game. This meant tremendous work for the goalkeeper. Having played for such a side makes Courtois' record even more impressive, not less.

You've misread my post. I can't be arsed explaining. But that isn't what I said.

Indeed, I said 'GOAL!' the moment it took a nick off JT. Great reaction save made all the better because he'd been wrong footed. He must provide so much relief to the defence ... compare Cech's flapping at the ball to his self-assured cool catches.

One thing he has improved, which I know a few of us were worried about from his Atletico days was his parries from shots and shots from wide into danger areas. Looks to have addressed that and parries into non-cluttered areas or into a Chelsea players path, it really is impressive. It cannot be done all the time but he's improved since he's been here which is a feat in itself no matter how much we feel sorry for Petr.

Either himself, Mourinho, or Lollichon (assuming the latter works closely with Courtois) must've looked at De Gea. De Gea had more or less the same reputation when he was Atletico Madrid.. Everyone was a huge fan, from those in La Liga to those only watching other leagues. The Spaniard was an excellent shot stopper but wasn't great at dominating the area when he moved to England. This was because of the difference in the physicality of both leagues.

De Gea has learnt his lesson the hard way and is better in his 6-yard box. Courtois was instantly that good and that's the difference between De Gea and himself, the Belgian's adaptability is much higher.
