HD3D 1,038
If he is allowed to play and If he first handedly caused our elimination would you guys hold it against him when he comes back?Personally, I wouldn't. But you can be sure many will.Ronaldo was met with a very fierce and hateful reaction by the fans when he came back to Man United after having scored the penalty for Portugal that eliminated England in the World Cup 2006. sutro 1,026
He will be under big pressure in these games,he will have to be very strong mentally to cope with this.Could be a good thing for us Mohammed Seif
drog.ba 239
Sure he can play, what depends is if he will if there is a fee. If it is ruled that Atletico don't have to pay any fee if one was previously agreed upon, it kind of screws them if they hope to loan Courtois again

Mohammed Seif 1,451
I would frankly love it he plays for so many reasons.1- The kid will get a chance to play a semi final AND against his team, which is always a good test of character and mentality. Definitely will add to his experience.2- If Atletico chooses to allow him to play, I expect this would be compensated somehow if we go with Costa.3- If we get through and God willing we will, I wouldn't read on the papers that we had to cripple our opponent to get through.Having said that if we exercise our clause, then both teams would have HONORED their agreement. If Chelsea agrees that he plays against us, then by all means that is HONORABLE too. It is all a win win situation in my opinion. bethos1 802
I don't care if he plays or not but if Chelsea and Atlético really have that clause in the contract Atlético should respect it tbh and if they don't Chelsea should just sue them or something. I hate it when someone breaks their word/contract.
The only place to be 11,313
Gourlay saying Thibaut will play. There was never any doubtHe said he CAN play didn't he? As in if Atletico pay the fee then we can't stop them.Would prefer if he didn't play but if he does then we'll just adjust.
petre.ispirescu 4,928
Courtois, Casillas, Neuer, Yashin, Zoff, Zubi, Kahn, bring 'em all, we don't care whoever they may be 'CAUSE WE ARE THE FAMOUS CFC!But this is fucked up IMO, I mean you don't give a shit if Bangoura plays for Elfsborg, but all of a sudden you care about Courtois. Something is wrong, but I just wish this has something to do with Diego Costa too. I won't mind Courtois playing if Gourlay manages to work on a discount for Costa. After all is pure business and Chelsea has done some pretty good deals in the last year TBH.
Cosmin 2,484
He can play, who cares? It's not like he's for Atletico what Cristiano Ronaldo is for Real Madrid.

drog.ba 239
The ever reliable Balague saying Atletico might not play him and take the fine as they want Courtois again next season. https://twitter.com/GuillemBalagueI sort of hope he plays as I want him to stay here/sign a new contract and him not playing may sour things, although I assume he was aware of the agreement all season

AndersonBLUE 819
The thing is we don't know what goes on behind closed doors. I don't understand how he can play if he is not allowed to in his contract. I don't understand how UEFA can override club to club contracts.I don't understand
Sir Mikel OBE 4,920
If that part of the contract is voided and they field him then We should recall him immediately. Contracts obviously mean fuck all to UEFA.
LemmeBorrowThat 124
I hope he definitely plays against us. I want to see how well he does against his main team, and I'll be damned if we sit here and take the easy way out due to contract stipulations. Quite honestly why would UEFA want to cripple a team in the biggest competition in Europe? Does nothing for them. Can't wait to see Courtois in action against us. It's normal that there should be some general rules.
